Most menu items are vegan!

Loved the katengya (injera spinach app) and eggplant entree! But it was very hard to choose because *almost everything* on the menu was vegan!! Run by a wonderful lady, service was excellent.

Nice Ethiopian

We came here with a group of six and had a wonderful evening. The place was packed so be sure to make a reservation! We tried the plantain, eggplant and mushroom dishes. All were delicious and a bit spicy! The plantain was a bit sweet to my taste. All in all were delicious!

Pros: So many options, Good service

Cons: Some doshes a bit on the oily side

Great Ethiopian Food

We did a family platter of five different dishes. The top two were the chickpea stew and the fried plantains. 4.7/5

Pros: Very good, Good prices, Interesting experience

Revised review

My family has eaten here many times and had positive experiences, however our last visit was not good. We ordered takeout, and when I arrived to pick it up, the two sides of injera I ordered were not made. I had to order it again and wait. Then, when I brought the food home, over 3/4 of my $17 Alicha was just rice. There was almost no cabbage or vegetables. I texted the owner (that is how takeout orders are made) and expressed my disappointment, asking to pay for a side order of the stew to add because I cannot eat so many carbs, and for $17, I did not want a huge plate of mostly rice. At most, rice should be a side. She then cancelled my credit card payment and said to just keep it all. But that meant I had only rice to eat and no stew. I went back to the restaurant, told her she did not have to cancel my credit card because I am happy to pay for the other things we bought. I said I would pay for a side of the stew, and just order my meal next time with no rice, or just order a side of the stew so rice would not be an issue. The owner said that I should have read the menu to see there was rice in the dish. I told her I knew that, but that I did not expect it to be nearly all the dish- had I known, I would have told her to hold the rice. She then said they were a small restaurant and their food costs were high. I said, “exactly! I want to pay for what we got, so at least let me pay for all the sides we got and the injera.” She refused and walked away. I had to yell into the kitchen, “can I please just pay for what we got?” And she ignored me.

I am very disappointed in what I think was a gross overreaction to the situation, and am baffled why she would not let me pay. She may think by doing that it would make me satisfied but it had the opposite effect. We will not be retuning, which is sad because there are not any other Ethiopian restaurants in town and it is one of my favorite cuisines.

Perhaps others may have better luck, and maybe eating in house is a better experience. I just suggest asking for the rice to be on the side, or to hold it and just get the injera, otherwise you will be paying for a plate a rice for just a little stew.

So the take away is sometimes the food is heavily rice and I recommend those individuals to get two "mains" on their entree. Also, it can be expensive to eat here but the food is very "home-made" and high quality.

I'm not sure what the interaction with the owner adds here other than to signal she tries to make sure her customers are happy?

Incredible flavors!

Raska is amazing. The amount of flavor packed into every little bite is incredible. I've tried the brussel sprouts, sambosa, Tedla's delight, and the rice pudding, and every single thing was amazing. Almost the whole menu is vegan, except for one egg dish and one chicken dish. Still doing text/call in ordering with pickup and no on site dining.

Pros: Incredible Food, Tons of Options, Desserts

Cons: Takeout only

Incredible food, kind service

Wowww this restraunt deserves and override of five stars!!! The food had so much flavor, we got the combo with chickpea stew and another with the butternut squash and I was amazed at how tasty it was. We got to go and sat to try a bite outside of the restaurant, ended up staying there and nearly finishing our food! Next time I go back, I want to try a bit of everything. The injera (sourdough flatbread) is sososo tasty and brings out the flavors of all the food. There are tons of vegan options, I think just one dish has chicken and another has eggs but everything else is vegan.
The woman who owns Raska is the definition of living with compassion. She is so sweet, she talked to us and made sure we liked everything. After we told her how much we loved her food, she even filled our to-go box with extra leftovers!
If you’re looking for a place to eat in Fort Collins, without a doubt go here. I’d go again and again and honestly come back to FC just to eat here! Best Ethiopian food around!!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Flavorful food, Compassionate staff

Absolutely incredible!!

This place was simply incredible! Ordered the mushroom dish and also the pink lentil dish. We ate every single bite and would have eaten more if our stomachs had more room. Highly, highly recommend for anyone who likes flavorful and delicious food.

Pros: Delicious, Local woman owned

Hands down, the best vegan food in Fort Collins

The restaurant isn’t fully vegan but most of the menu is. The default is vegan, everything that is non vegan is clearly specified.

The food is amazingly tasty, healthy and has large portions (especially if you get sides). The starred entrees are made in a flash, the others require frying so they simply take time to cook.

This place was so small and it was hard to get a seat and covid has forced it to be take-out or one of two patio tables. This means it is actually really fast since the staffs time is devoted to cooking and not so much serving. I think it’s a win.

Injera is vegan and awesome. Try some Ethiopean. Would give five stars buy HC only allows them for vegan only places.

Pros: Healthy, Delicious, Large portions

Cons: Can be busy, Might need to park off Myrtle, Family establishment (actually thats a pro)

Delicious Ethiopian food--Great vegan options!

My partner and I have eaten at Ras Ka occasionally. We went back to check out their renovation and new menu. We were very pleased with both. The dining room has been expanded and has a real 'homey' feel.

The menu has been revamped and is 2/3 vegan. The only meat items being served are chicken and fish. We ordered some Sambosas and two different vegetable entrees (mushrooms & eggplant) with extra injera on the side.

We are huge fans of Ethiopian food, and Ras Ka's offerings never fail to surprise us. The flavors are extremely fresh and unique. We totally enjoyed our meal and the new cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. The sambosas were particularly good. They are not deep fried (like at most Ethiopian restaurants)--instead, they are pan fried and include veggies as well as lentils. We ALWAYS order them when eating Ethiopian and the ones at Ras Ka are far superior (and healthier). In addition to our food, we ordered African team and coffee with our meal. A delicious date night out!

We spoke with the owner after eating. She is monitoring how much chicken is ordered and may remove it from the menu. She would like to make the business totally vegan eventually if business can be sustained.

The food is amazing at Ras Ka. At the same time, I have a few minor 'quibbles' with the restaurant:
-There is no website, so you have to find the menu on Facebook.
-The nice person who took our order brought a pad of paper to the table, but didn't write down our order. She then had to return and double-check what we wanted.
-The sambosas were served with the entrees. As we were starving, it would have been nice to get them ahead of time since they are described as 'starters' on the menu.
-If paying with a credit card, the business uses a 'square' with an iPad. It was unclear if the tip had been added to our charge since the total did not change. The owner was able to check and it WAS added. We almost double tipped because we didn't want to 'stiff' the server.
-I wish Ras Ka would offer a 'veggie combination' like many Ethiopan restaurants do. It's always so difficult to decide what to order--I want to try it all!!!

Pros: Delicious food, Cozy atmosphere, Gracious owner

Cons: Lack of parking, No 'veggie combination'

Great place to eat out

Ras Ka is wonderful, even if mostly for the owner's genuine and personable character. I'm amazed that there are no other happycow reviews here yet! If a traveler were headed through the Fort and had one opportunity to dine out, I'd recommend Ras Ka. Possibly less-than consistent dishes and portions, but somehow that is a positive here, like a home cooked meal.

Pros: Great food, staff, genuine, some locally sourced ingredients

Cons: Occassional small portion
