Affordable place with vegan options - Edit
With very few vegan friendly places in Sendai, this restaurant was life-saving. We asked the waiter if there was any dairy in the vegetable and mushroom curry, he confirmed there was none. We paid 580 yen for each plate (curry and rice) which was really cheap and the food was really good !

Long review with a TLDR - Edit
We were a bit sceptical about trying this place based off of one review, but with limited vegan options in Sendai, we decided to give it a shot; and I’m glad we did!
Read moreThe restaurant itself is nice and cosy and has a seating capacity of about 30 with private table booths and bar seats, reservations aren’t required.
They have an English menu and the staff speak English (as well as Indian and Japanese; impressive) so that made it easy to order.
However when it came time to order we asked which of the curries didn’t contain meat and our waiter asked if we were vegetarian, we advised him we were vegan and he didn’t seem familiar with the concept. I explained we don’t eat milk or cheese and he followed up by asking if butter was ok 🤦♂️ , so in the end we had to list all the ingredients we don’t eat as dairy didn’t seem to cover it. (Don’t forget to mention no cream on top of the curry either!)
Once we clarified, we ended up ordering the vegetable curry and the mushroom curry. Our waiter suggested ordering the three curry set option which includes chicken and nan, but kindly offered to swap the chicken for a samosa and the nan for rice. So we went with that but as there were only two vegan curries we ended up getting the vegetable curry and two serves of the mushroom curry. We also ordered the dhal (from a seperate section of the menu) for good measure.
The food arrived quickly and it was great. The dhal was good, the vegetable curry was better, but the mushroom curry was exceptional!
We ended up returning the next night and ordering two large mushroom curries and two sets of samosas. Fortunately when we returned the second night they remembered us and our dietary preferences and so it was much easier ordering.
Both times we left with full bellies and all for a very reasonable price (between ¥2000-¥3000 for two people). Would rate 5 stars if possible.
TLDR: Give T’s Tantan a break and get the mushroom curry, just make sure you clearly specify what you can’t/don’t eat as they may not fully understand what vegan means.
Pros: Great taste, Great price, Great service
Cons: Serves meat, May not fully understand veganism, Nan is not vegan :(

Delicious curry, decent price - Edit
There is a handful of meatless currys to pick from, including eggplant, spinach and mushroom, lentil, chickpea and vegetable curry, all of them very good. Ask the waiters about that. The naan bread is huge and in my opinion, it's a cheap and delicious place for indian food.
