Best Vegan Food on North Shore!

Definitely worth the stop if you’re on the North Shore. Great spot to sit and eat with lots of tables. The food is incredible! Definitely would recommend the waffle, pounders panini, and frappe (new menu option!).

When I asked about vegan options (6/16/2024) they told me everything was vegan. However, there are lots of items that have honey, so you need to specify.

Panini was especially good

We had beet poke bowls and nachos and a pesto panini. All was excellent. I think the panini was especially good. I enjoyed the beet poke and the kids thought it was pretty good, but in the end they were overwhelmed by the beet-y-ness. So my warning is that if you don't like beets, even though the sauce is really good, you can still taste the beets pretty strongly. We also had a chips and cheezy dips and they were really good.

Pros: Excellent variety , Nice location , Good food

Cons: Beets being beets lol

Just good

The location couldn't be beat - that area is a vegan food desert and I appreciated having something to eat among the endless shrimp food trucks. That said, I was underwhelmed. Maybe I should have ordered something else. I got the Pounded Panini, which was basically just veg, a little Daiya, and a little pesto. No substantial protein on the menu, though you can pay extra for vegan bacon.

Pros: Good location , Plenty of healthy veg , Big menu

Cons: Not much protein

Very fair

Raised by waves

Decent parking
Open outside venue with plenty of seating (I don’t know what they do for weather considerations)
Can’t complain about the prices
Good service. Reasonable food to table.
Menu specifies vegan items and non-vegan items are a simple fix.
Luna smoothie without honey: probably needed the honey/sweetener. I feel like agave would be an easy alternative
Pounders panini: Very good, savory, comparable to the sunrise shack
Island rolls: very earthy, healthy, nice little dip to come with it. Good option that I personally wouldn’t get typically.
I had a lot of hype for this place, and I don’t think it reached the potential I thought it would. Would love to give another try sometime if I’m over here to give a redux review. But for now- I will say it’s very fair.

My favorite on Oahu

Love Raised by waves. Yummy nut cheeses, large selection of shakes and smoothies. The Aloha bowl has amazing beet poke.

Good food, staff may have had a bad day

We came here because of all the great reviews and the cute name. We had an açaí bowl and the keiki toast (which I hadn’t had a chance to take a picture of bc my husband devoured it 😃). The toast was very good, the açaí bowl was fresh and tasty although I liked other açaí bases more than this. The staff unfortunately was rather slow and seemed to be a bit annoyed. Could have been just a bad day though. One thing that bothered me is: they claim there 100% plant based, but so many dishes come with honey in it. Make sure to tell them you want no honey, if you’re vegan.

Worth the Drive?

Good variety but a bit pricey and slow service. The Dragonfruit Açaí Bowl was very good - I’d get that again but the shakes were a bit thinner than I’d like. I’d heard positive reviews and was excited to try it but I’m not sure it was worth the drive. However, it was nice to have some plant-based options on that side of the island.

Just ok

Saw all the great reviews and we were pretty excited. Service was kinda slow and the woman behind the counter seemed unnecessarily annoyed with my taking too long to order. We tried the poke bowl, raw nachos, and the panini. Panini and poke bowl were the best of the bunch but not worth coming back for another trip. Loved the plant based vibes but I wanted to like it more.

Best healthy spot in Honolulu

We made several trips to this side of the island just to eat here!
Totally worth every minute and such a beautiful drive.
Everything we had was delicious. The panini is really good just slightly on the greasy side for me. My personal favorite was the poke bowl and the aloha bowl.

Pros: Everything is good!, Healthy, Many options

Cons: Only one location

Fresh and tasty

All vegan cafe. Had the nachos and an iced coffee. Both tasted fresh and healthy. There weren't many other vegan options here so was grateful to find this!

Unbeetable Rolls

I ordered the Island Rolls, which are two rice paper wraps filled with cucumber slices, beet hummus, organic greens, sprouts, arugula, purple cabbage, cilantro, mint, shredded carrots, and bell pepper. They were pleasing to the palate and the eyes, but I wish I had more sunflower tahini sauce to pour on them!

Warning: Café advertises as "100% plant-based," but uses honey.

Pros: paper bowls, healthful

Cons: honey

all vegan* sandwiches and bowls

Hurrah, Raised by the Waves is open!

This casual place is almost all vegan (many dishes contain honey) and has shaded outdoor picnic tables for seating amid historic farm equipment, grass, palm trees, and a large lovely plumeria tree.

Our family enjoyed their fresh, well-seasoned sandwiches and bowls. These folks know their beets. The beet poke was convincing and beet hummus was garlicky and delish. The portions are made for mortals (not ginormous) and satisfying. 5 stars!

Pros: All vegan (except honey), Lots of different sandwiches and bowls, Relaxed outdoor seating

Cons: Slight parking lot vibe

Good Find!

Good food, but just didn’t have that wow factor that would give it 5 stars for me. The nachos were tasty, even with the weird grainy “cheese” they use. The BLT sandwich was solid, but the ingredient ratios were off. There was too much bread and greens and not enough tomato or “bacon”. Overall very decent food and definitely worth a try!

Pros: All Vegan Menu!, Nice location, Healthy feeling food

Cons: Some dishes could use tweaking

Nice plant based choice in chilled atmosphere

Loved this little place - great atmosphere, nice music, friendly staff and guests, nice choice of freshly made plant based food. And whilst not a fan of disposable plastics, as least they were compostable and vegan.

Sunday Drive Surprise in Kahuku

Located in the old Kahuku Sugar Mill Plantation - next to the Kahuku Post Office. Currently, there is only outdoor seating available during covid era. There is an option to order online which is nice, but since we just popped in, we ordered at the door. The server was located inside next to the counter by the register - we simply looked at the menu provided at the doorway and hollered our order to her. Social distancing was in full effect - lol. Checking out the inside which is blocked off for now, you can see that they have cute mugs, shirts, and other merchandise - I'd like to visit again and check it out once they reopen the indoor area.

We ordered Avo Toast, two AlohaMachas (added agave), and a Blue Room smoothie with no honey. Wait time was about 25-30 minutes. Once our order was was ready, it placed on a table by the door for pick up. We sat outside of their dining area at one of the other tables in the marketplace.

I enjoyed my sandwich. It was delicious! The smoothies were good - not sweet so if you want them on the sweet side, ask for extra agave.

Cute little place to visit when on the NS. We will definitely be visiting again.

We got the chuns sand which, sunrise waffle and the keiki toast which were all great. The toast was a more basic peanut butter toast but still really good. The sand which was really really good and so was the waffle.
