GOVINDA’S OFFERS SEATING OR TAKEOUT DURING PANDEMIC

Govinda’s all-vegan buffet has not seen it’s usual crowd after it was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. They’ve been serving primarily prepackaged takeout food. But sometime in August, they reopened their interior and patio. Customers are served by staff wearing pandemic masks.

The buffet has been operated by the Krishna temple at 14th Ave & Cherry Street for decades. Food is prepared in the temple kitchen as usual but the temple itself remains mostly closed.

It hasn’t been feasible to operate the (normally) BEST BUFFET in DENVER with its usual full selection. The all you can eat offer is suspended during the pandemic because there have been far fewer customers. The food line is not currently self service due to pathogen risk. The serving line has new plexiglas so customers can’t breathe on the selection.

There are two food options. The current basic deal is called a “combo meal”. It’s limited to the cooked foods on display, including halavah. Combo meals are served in black plastic containers with three spaces. You can also ask that an additional item such as rice or dhal be put into a small disposable soup bowl at no extra charge. Combo meal price has varied but was reduced in recent days in my experience.

If you’re buying the combo meal and have a hungry appetite, ask them to top the two containers nice and full and they will usually cooperate at no extra charge.

The second option is to ask what other foods they have such as salads or sandwiches not on display, but priced separately from the combo deal. These undisplayed options are pre-packaged in opaque containers and sitting where the salad bar used to be. The salad bar has been unavailable during current pandemic modality.

If you want anything beyond the foods on display, you should ask what they have. They don’t refill containers after you have eaten. So be sure to get what you need from the start. They may or may not have pastries for sale. Just ask.

Hand sanitizer is made available in addition to the wash room. Personally I’m cootie phobic. I bring tissues to handle doorknobs.

If it gets crowded before the pandemic has passed, I would not feel safe. Hopefully they’ll reduce the number of tables if needed, especially if Covid-19 gets worse as people gather indoors for winter.

It’s a bit sad not to see the normal crowds at Govinda’s. But then again, intelligent humanoids would rather stay 6 feet apart than 6 feet under. If you don’t want to eat indoors, takeout is your best option.

Pros: Still the ONLY ALL-VEGAN BUFFET in Denver, Takeout and seating available, Krishna devotional music playing during your meal

Cons: No longer "all you can eat" during pandemic, Selection limited during pandemic, Open only Thursdays-Fridays-Saturdays

We came in on a Friday night—amazing food and great service. We sat on the patio; was a perfect night, and we loved the charming patio overhead lights. Desserts are excellent too. Cannot wait to return!

All you can eat

Great buffet of vegan food, many of the choices being Indian food choices. Even after an all you can eat meal you still feel healthy because the food is so clean!

All-you-can-eat Indian food

As all Happy Cow users know, finding all-vegan restaurants is pretty hard. But vegan buffets? That's almost impossible. So Radha Govinda's is a bit of a unicorn. As such, you should absolutely give it a try. Like, tonight. They have some staple dishes, like crispy papadum, spicy curry, and basmati rice, as well as rotating special items like black bean sliders, tacos, and sushi. I also can't speak highly enough of the kind and generous staff, or the mellow, spiritual vibe. An absolute must for any vegan Denverite.

Pros: Delicious Indian food made with love, Great service, Reasonable price

Cons: Weird hours and random closures, Slightly inconvenient location

We Love This Place

We love this place, After fasting or being consciously aware of eating to be healthy, this is the only place I trust. You will feel the good vibes in this little house the minute you walk in. Warm yellow walls, happy people and the smell of wholesome foods. I think this is the only Denver eatery in Denver that truly has an unpretentious spiritual vibe.
P.S. The moon on the entrance wall is amazing.

Pros: fresh and wholesome food, nice music, no hustle or uptight employees, fine art on the walls

Cons: only open 4 days a week

Delicious vegan buffet in Denver

The workers put so much love and care into their food. I love buffets and it is very difficult to find a vegan one so I was beyond happy to find this existed. I love the varying cuisines they offer and their menu is all-around great. Must try homemade dressings and desserts!

Pros: All vegan, Rotating menu with different types of cuisine, Affordable

High vibe place with great options!

I am visiting from California and was so happy to find this place. The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The artwork down to the bathroom was lovely and had a very "down to earth" vibe. The buffet and desserts are vegan except for a couple vegetarian items on the side. The coolest part is that they let me know that the food was "offered" meaning it was blessed for our nourishment. Beautiful and unique dining experience!

Pros: Tasty vegan food, Service, atmosphere...it was lov

Cons: vegetarian food. Some people might complain about
