I visited here on my first day in Cuenca and was warmly welcomed. Even though sign says vegetarian, everything is vegan. Pizza wasn't available so I settled for the set menu lunch for $3.75. Soup was OK - nothing to write home about. Main was excellent and dessert was even more so.
Owner is very nice and speaks perfect English.
I would love to visit here again when in town to try their pizza, pasta and lasagna.
We had a quinoa salad and pasta with garlic which came with a salad too. It was delicious and the personal were very nice. We felt also realy confy there at this nice location. Would highly recommend it.
We went for dinner here on a Wednesday night. It was a cold night, so it would be good if the restaurant was heated! We ordered the quinoa paella and a peanutty stew with rice. The food was OK but the flavors weren't that strong. The hot chocolate is very good. A little pricy - $18.50 in total.
Beautiful setting and great food! RECOMMENDED - Edit
Great selection of salads, soups, pastas and traditional dishes. Veg is el dente and salads full of variety of textures. Quinoa is obviously a primary ingredient in many of the dishes. Very friendly owner who treat us to a lovely fig dessert. Quiet area and lovely decor set in a courtyard.
Quinua Vegetarian cuisine is a nice restaurant where you can find vegan dishes, but you may ask, as few of it contains milk or eggs..
The owner is vegan himself so you won't have any problem explaining what is vegan and what is not.
The hot chocote with almond milk is wonderful !
The breakfast is nice too !
Today, the restaurant is no more "99% vegan", they propose dishes with eggs, cheese, and the basic hot chocolate is made with dairy milk.
Anyway, the served food is very tasty and a significative part is vegan. The hot chocolate with almonds milk is amazing.
Currently, they open also on sunday until 6pm.
Vegan must ask, vegan items are not labeled on the set menu.
My husband and I tried this place a few times and were never blown away. The almuerzos always lacked vegetables and were just OK. My husband tried the lasagna and it was over cheesed and still frozen in some parts. The food wasn't bad but it was not great either.
