Serves meat, vegan options available. Ethiopian cuisine generally includes a variety of vegetable- and lentil-based dishes that are vegetarian/vegan. The vegetarian dishes here are all vegan and clearly listed on the menu.

worth a trip - Edit
We ended up at Queen of Sheba because the event we attended across the street had no vegan options! Ethiopian food is so tasty. The server suggested we get a combination platter. We did and had leftovers the next day, the portions were very generous. The hot tea was also very good. Casual dining.

Great food, friendly staff, real affordable dinner - Edit
I’d been jonesing for Ethiopian food since I moved to KY 3 years ago, and upon finally getting myself to Louisville to come here I was thoroughly satisfied. There is no way to go wrong off their vegetarian menu, and on their appetizers there’s, I believe, only 1 non vegan option (and it’s great if you just ask them to remove the cottage cheese, which we did). The Ethiopian coffee is also excellent, and something about having the clay coffee pot and a super tiny coffee cup is supremely satisfying. We went a little nuts and had a feast, but realistically this is like a $30 date night for 2, $60 with a bottle of wine, and that kinda blew my mind. The Ethiopian and Eritrean places I frequented in Philly were much pricier.
Read moreMy recommendation, if you’re going with a table of 2 or 4 and are going to share (the best way to do Ethiopian, for sure) would be to ask to be seated in back so you can eat off of the cool woven tables.
Of note: talking with the owner, they also sell spices and injera that you can order in advance and pick up at the restaurant. If you’ve ever want to try cooking Ethiopian food, you really need a hookup for some of the spices that you will legit not find in any store that doesn’t cater to Ethiopians or Eritreans, so this is big.

Great food - Edit
The gomen was different than what I’m used to, as was the cabbage dish. I really enjoyed the cabbage, red lentils, and the salad. The hot tea was really good too. The injera is not gluten-free (none of the Ethiopian joints in the town offer GF injera, unfortunately).

Our favorite restaurant - Edit
My husband and I tried this on a whim and now we are hooked. Ethiopian food is absolutely lovely with tons of vegan options naturally in their food culture. We come back every time we visit Louisville. The only downside is the hours. We would be here all day, everyday if we could!

Best Ethiopian Food in Town! - Edit
This place has the best Ethiopian food in town! The staff is always friendly and the food typically comes out pretty quickly. All the vegetarian options are also vegan. Everything I’ve tried here is really good. You can also have your food served on rice if you’re gluten free. Highly recommend!
