Serves meat, vegan options available. Mexican restaurant with a big menu including items that can be requested vegan: veggie fajitas, burrito, etc. Refried beans are not vegan or vegetarian. Open Mon-Sun 11:00am-10:00pm.
Be warned: Their kitchen and front-of-house staff seem new, they need extra communication to get it right.
They have a soy "chicken" curl protein that is well-seasoned and can be subbed in many dishes (burrito, bowls). Their vegetarian tacos can be modified vegan. Portions are generous.
They list a soy protein option in most of their vegetarian dishes. My vegetable chimichanga had no soy protein to be found anywhere. The vegetables were unflavored and bland.
Honestly, don't waste your time here unless you get dropped off at their front door with no way to go elsewhere.
Always had a good time here. Good service and plenty of vegetarian options that can be veganized, although no menu options are plain vegan. Was warned by a waitress that the rice isn’t vegan without even having to ask.
I got veggie fajita with plant based protein on it (make sure to say you want it vegan or tell them what you don’t want with it). It was good, but not amazing. I believe that the plant based protein is made out of shredded seitan, not jackfruit like another reviewer said. You get complimentary chips and salsa which are always good.
I really wanted to like this restaurant... but nope. They have a vegetarian section on the menu. I ordered the smothered burrito. It was bland and filled with lots of broccoli (not listed as an ingredient in the menu) I love broccoli - just not in my burrito. I asked what the plant based protein was - I was told it was “kind of like tofu” - waitress didn’t offer to find out more info. i decided to gamble on the mystery plant based option. I think it was jack fruit .... maybe.... I don’t know if it was due to the tourist-y area but definitely felt rushed. I would not go back.
I was really looking forward to this but was disappointed. The salsa was too spicy. The tortillas were stuck together. The fajita seasoning was mediocre. They have plant protein but forgot to add it in.
They had so many options and all of them can be made vegan upon request which I love! It just makes it less stressful if you can ask for a vegan option over explaining and omitting everything. I ordered a vegan chimichanga and the food was really fresh and made just right! I love that they didn’t overpower the natural flavors of vegetables for spices. I am super impressed. I was a little nervous coming here because of other reviews but the food was great and the service was fantastic. For SD this is a really great place to go!
The back of the menu has a decent number of vegetarian options and states all vegetarian selections can be made vegan...however, that means the cook will omit things like cheese, refried beans, lime crema, & sour cream without a vegan substitute. Simple, bland food with no “wow” factor. Vegans can eat here, but don’t expect to be impressed.
There we're about 5 vegetarian meals to choose from. I chose the vegetarian fajitas which had peppers, summer squash, zucchini, and tomatoes. It came with choice of flour or corn tortillas, black bean pic de Gallo, a cornbread hash, sour cream, and cheese blend. My partner had the surf and turf fajitas but it did not come with sour cream or guacamole. The food looked really good but lacked flavor. The service was not very good. Ashley was our waitress and was not attentive. It took her a while to take our order
The food took a while to come out. We probably won't go back the next time we are traveling through.
