The most authentic vegan Cao Lau in town! - Edit
I have been living in Hoi An for almost 5 months now, this is another secret local vegan place that I frequent. But it is not love at first sight, I was put off by its Pho the first time I visited it. Because it was not tasty and very small in portion 😅.
Read moreLuckily I gave it another chance after my friend said it has the best vegan Cao Lau and it is true 😍! It's full of flavours loaded with mock meat, sprouts, cucumber, lettuce, fried soya pieces, special cao lau noodles, lime and chilli paste. A very very local translation from a famous Hoianian dish into vegan! I emphasized it is very "local" because they use mock meat, it may not be a thing for many veggie people, but I love how authentic it is.
The second best dish I love is the Bun Thit Nuong. It is similar to Cao Lau but with different rice noodles and with peanut paste. Depends on your luck, sometimes it comes with rice crackers and one piece of spring roll, but sometimes not 😂. It is still very delicious without that. It is another go-to dish when I come here.
Because of my first "traumatic" experience with it, I only stick to these two delicious dishes. But sometimes I did try other dishes because they ran out of them. So I tried their Bun Cha, it is just so-so. I also tried their Stir-fried noodles with veggies, it is also just so-so, and I was surprised they used instant noodles in this dish. I also tried their sushi, which is delicious, but too small. You may need to take it as an appetizer only.
All in all, I love this local place. And the staff is friendly. But you need to know what to order, otherwise, you will be disappointed 😂.
One thing to note, it is super busy with locals on the 1st and 15th of the Lunar Calendar. So better avoid these days, as they prepare dishes very slowly. Unless you order the rice with veggies which is on the counter and served immediately. But I never try it because the portion is too big for me (a plus for you if you come hungry!).
Otherwise, like the other local vegan places I frequent, it is usually only me there. And in this case, the food is served quickly.💪
Pros: The most authentic local vegan Cao Lau, The auntie and the two young staff are nice, The best Bun Thit Nuong
Cons: Don't order the Pho, Local restaurant, no fancy seating, Served slowly when it is busy

Good variety of delicious meals - Edit
At least 20 dishes. All dishes cost 30.000. I tried the Rice with "Chicken", Spring Rolls, Tofu in clay Pot and noodles with "Kebab". All dishes where tasty, fresh and one portion per meal is fine. I would highly recommend this place.

Amazing local food at local prices - Edit
Hoi An is not always the cheapest place in Vietnam when it comes to food. However, this restaurant offers great prices for many local dishes in a no frills yet comfortable setting.
Read moreWe love to go there and try the different choices they have. Pretty much everything ranges from good to great. A few dishes are a bit oily, but it's tasty and cheap.

Tasty food, friendly staff - Edit
This restaurant was outside of the town centre but well worth the trip. The lady was friendly and welcoming. I had Cao Lau and clay pot tofu. Nice big portions and flavoursome. The price was very cheap for the quality of the food. I visited towards the of my stay but will definitely go back when I’m next in Hoi An!

This was an awesome experience! As we arrived, we had a little talk with the owner. Such a lovely man! He even sang a song for us and spoke a little bit german with us. The whole family is so cute, they were great hosts.

Not for me - Edit
Opening hours are unclear. We stood in front of closed doors one day and came back the next at 11 and were lucky.
Read moreThere is a lot of instant ramen and Maggi bottles on display.
The food is not expensive (30.000 Dong for a main)
The Menu pictures and what is on the list don’t match at all.
I had to ask for a drink three times before I got it. (At that time were five people in the restaurant)
Food was okay.
Would not come back.
Pros: Apparently all vegan

Great value for money - Edit
Lovely place away from the centre, ran by an older lady who is super friendly. The food was delicious, the curry soup and the spring rolls! The spring rolls took a while to arrive but it’s okay because there were many people and she was the only one cooking.

Amazing food and lovely service - Edit
The chicken is so good, it looked so like the real thing we questioned it in the beginning. We went back again the next day as the food and service was exceptional. A little hard to find but worth the effort.
