Great ramen place

I had the original soy milk ramen, and it was delicious. I believe it had a sort of vegan chicken, and it was tasty. I also ordered a side of kimchi, edamame, and sesame cucumber. I need to come back to try the other ramen! The lady spoke English, so it was easy to communicate, and she was really friendly. They have two areas to sit and eat. The bottom only has a few seats, maybe 6, and then upstairs has a bit more space. I sat on the second floor, and it was a very relaxing place to be to enjoy then meal.

Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere

Make sure to try this one out!

First time ramen in Taiwan and it for sure did not disappoint at all. The restaurant is all vegan which is perfect as you can order anything from the menu. I tested the water for you and tried the spicy soy milk ramen (I asked for extra spicy) and also took Korean Kimchi. Both dishes were amazing. The kimchi was one of the better kimchi's that I tried and was packed with flavour. I also very much enjoyed the ramen. (I did extra rich broth for only a small upcharge). The restaurant has seating on the ground and first floor and ordering goed quickly. Make sure to head down here!

Pros: Super tasty, Affordable, Friendly staff

Loved this ramen place, 6 stars!

This place was convenient to the subway red line, so we exited at Houyi station exit 2 and walked 350m there. Very easy to find.

We had tons of luggage and bags and the worker (who turned out to be the owner) was super nice and let us throw all our bags in a corner. Then we sat at the counter and looked over the menu.
I appreciated how focused the menu was, with not too many choices. This place does ramen and a few sides and nothing else, which is great, they can make sure to do it well (which they very much do).

We ended up ordering miso soymilk ramen, dandanmian (chose mildly spicy), along with Korean kimchi as a side. Food came out fast and was delicious, we both agreed the miso soymilk was the most delicious. Only problem was I wish the portions were a little bigger. For 2 hungry people, 3 bowls of ramen is probably a good idea. And with prices so very reasonable, it's not gonna break the bank to do so.

There's seating for about 6 people at the counter on the ground floor, and 2 floors above with usual table seating.

As we ate, we chatted with an elderly Buddhist nun who sat next to us. She was a "regular" at the shop so we got to chat with her and the owner, who is also Buddhist and was cooking our food. Turns out the owner went to Japan to learn how to make ramen, which is why the food was so delicious.

Pros: Delicious food, Simple, focused menu, Super friendly staff

Cons: Portion is on the smaller side

Great ramen!

If you like ramen you have to come here! Downstairs is a proper little ramen bar which sadly was full when we arrived, so we went upstairs which seats an additional 16.

We didn't find many fully vegetarian ramen restaurants in Japan so we were beyond excited to find one in Kaohsiung. The menu is compact, but has a good variety including soy ramen, miso ramen, and tantanmen ramen.

The miso ramen had a lovely subtle flavour and was filled with delicious chewy noodles. The tantanmen soup was maybe a bit bland compared to other similar broths we've had, but it was still tasty and satisfying.

Service was friendly and the food didn't take long to arrive, even though the store was quite busy.

Minimalism taken to its logical conclusion

Previously I had avoided this eatery because, frankly, a soy milk soup didn't sound appetizing. But thanks to the high HappyCow ratings, plus the fact that it's open Mondays when my favorite places are closed, and spurred by a bit of curiosity, I finally gave it a try.

Here the minimalist "less is more" philosophy is taken to its logical extreme: only one main dish. I tried the miso version and found it completely satisfying, with nutritious ingredients. The service was polite, and the environment was clean and relaxing.

I am now a fan, and will definitely return to try the kimchi and spicy versions.

Delicious soy milk la mian at a good price

Not a very big place, but warm and friendly. An English menu is available. They don't have a lot on offer, but what they do have is really good. The shop specializes in soy milk la mian noodle soup, and also has a few Japanese style sides.

I had the spicy dan dan mian (you can choose your spice level when you order this). It was fantastic. Generous portion, nice and spicy, lots of chewy noodles. Price was just right as well. I'd strongly recommend visiting here if you're in Kaohsiung.

Fair prices, good serving size

After happening upon a new city, desperate for food, this place was a real gem. The staff were incredibly friendly, giving us English menus.

We had miso soy milk ramen which had tofu skins, bamboo shoots, corn, and green onions. We also got a side of rice, kelp, and edamame all of which were delicious.

Usually I wouldn’t go to a place serving soup— never looks that appetizing, but here definitely was.

Very good Ramen experience

I had the soy milk ramen which tasted really delicious. They restraint doesn’t have a huge variety. I think they have 4-5 different ramen dishes and you can add small side dishes like pickled cucumber, edamame, etc.

Pros: All vegan restaurant , Good ramen

Cons: Little choice

A bowl of comforting vegan ramen

Read more in this vegan Kaohsiung guide: https://itravelforveganfood.com/vegan-kaohsiung-guide/

Who’s craving a bowl of hearty vegan ramen?

This vegan ramen shop, located in an alleyway near Houyi station, sells a selection of ramen and other Japanese dishes. The toppings for the different flavors are the same, but the soup bases are different.

The 5 flavors are Soy milk, miso soy milk, (fermented rice), kimchi and chili tantan noodles. You can also add TW$20 for a more flavorful broth. The ramen comes with a grilled tofu piece, corn, seaweed, soy piece, broccoli and mushrooms. It’s well made and delicious.

Other side dishes include kimchi, pickles, other veggie dishes.

Pros: All vegan, Tasty ramen

Delicious Vegan Food

I never had a chance to try ramen, even when I turned vegetarian. The vegan Ramen served at this shop is really very nice. The broth is very rich and creamy. If you happen to be in Kaohsiung do come to this place and YOU WILL NEVER REGRET.

Vegan ramen YESSS

Tried the Miso Soy Milk Ramen rice and 3 side dishes ( 200$), what can I say? Superhappy to have found this place! Soy Milk broth is less intense in flavor than other broths but I found it to be pleasantly balanced and tasty ❤️ looking forward to come back! There’s an English menu available (see photos), also the story of the environmentally focussed owner - love it: great cozy atmosphere and nice place

Pros: Everything vegan, Fair price, Nice ambiente

Vegan Comfort Food

This is a cool all-vegan Japanese-style place 5 minutes' walk from the MRT with a display tatami room on the second floor. The owner is vegan and studies Japanese culture. They only serve small sides and soymilk ramen in which you'll find seared tofu, broccoli, corn, and a mild/better variety of seaweed. I'd highly recommend choosing the second option, 味增汤 (miso), as the one problem here is that the other varieties are too light on flavor.

Updated from previous review on 2016-08-08

Pros: Good/Good For You, Different taste than most nearby veg places, Atmosphere

Cons: Light on flavor, Except for the 味增汤, other flavors just ok, Staff may forget to fill your tea
