Worth the wait

If you show up here and there is a line, stay and wait. You won’t regret it. They give you a number on a printed piece of paper, and will call the number when your table is ready. It usually does not take long.
The food is absolutely fantastic. They have dumplings, baozi and noodles. Every kind of vegetable you could imagine, even the healthy ones! This place strikes the perfect balance between chic and affordable. Highly recommend it. Even if you’re not in this part of Pudong, take the metro here. The food is completely worth the journey.

Pros: Amazing vegetable dishes, Comfort food like pan-fried dumplings, Ambiance

Cons: WeChat ordering

Amazing ambiance

Qing Chin by Perma is located at the top of a luxury shopping mall. It is special because it boasts excellent service and attention to detail; thus, many people want to dine here.

I’ve ordered takeout on a Friday evening around 5 and waited 20 minutes. However, I came on a Saturday evening to dine and was told the wait would be around 90 minutes.

The food is really tasty. I’ve had the several of their dishes. Unfortunately, I can’t remember their names, but I’ve had their bao buns, spicy mapo tofu and noodles. All were good, but the bao buns were a bit tough to chew near the bottom where the sesame seeds were placed.

Overall, really great restaurant:)
I will be back!

Pros: Great dining environment, Great food, Great price

Cons: Long wait, Limited english

Amazing!

Best vegan Chinese food I’ve had in Shanghai. Restaurant is located in a beautiful mall. Reservation not possible for 2 persons, we waited 40 minutes but totally worth it!

Great place!

The menu is vast, the food is great and the venue looks very cute and has a nice atmosphere. However, the waiting line can be very long, we waited for over an hour to get a table.

Great chain restaurant

Close to the new campus of NYU Shanghai, has great all vegan food. Located at the top floor of a posh mall. We went there on Sunday and the queue was long, we had to wait for an hour for a table.

Excellent

Wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes all made vegetarian. Fried dough balls with sesame seeds on top were a favorite.

My favourite Chinese restaurant

I come to this restaurant at least a couple of times a month. It would be more if the lines weren’t so long. A great selection of dishes, full of flavour.

Pros: Great selection of dishes, Great value for the quality provided

Cons: You can’t reserve / the lines can be really long

Incredible authentic Chinese vegan food

A really fantastic experience here tasting some really interesting but delicious flavours. Lots of local delicacies, and so many options you’ll easily find things you like. I would strongly recommend the lotus flower root, and also the mapo tofu!

We went back the next day!

The variety of items on the menu is truly astonishing. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept, except that there are several different kitchens cooking different dishes and you might be ushered between some of them to get to your table.

Ordering is accomplished by scanning the QR code in WeChat or Alipay and selecting from the menu there. Or you can just point to pictures in the menu book that has fairly vague English descriptions.

The good news is practically everything is delicious! If you like spicy food, they have it. If you like fried food, they have it. They have vegetables, tofu, fake meats, all kinds of things.

We arrived around 6:30 on a Thursday night and had to wait about 30 minutes for table. The next day around 11:30 we were seated immediately, but by noon the place was full.

Pros: Amazing selection, Delicious food, Accommodating staff

Cons: There can be a wait for a table, no reservations, It gets crowded, can be loud, , The tables are somewhat close together.

Sensational

I've been here many times, it is always busy even though it seats roughly 200 people. The interior is really nice, the service is speedy and the food is incredible. They use seasonal vegetables so the menu changes slightly, everything is vegan. The sweet & sour lotus root are a must, we had a delicious thick soup. There's a great tofu and mushroom dish plus some of the same dishes that can be found in their sister restaurants Lakeside Veggie & Green Vege Cafe. The drinks and desserts are also great, we had the peanut mochi which were surprisingly amazing.

Pros: Incredibly tasty food, classy interior, great value for money
