Delicious - vegetarian NOT vegan - Edit
Highly recommend, BUT - it’s not entirely vegan. Based on the Happy Cow vegan designation I excitedly ordered fried rice. It had egg in it. My husband is Omni so he happily ate it.
Read moreThe dumplings were very good, and the Cantonese style fried buns - Sheng Jian Bao (which takes 20 minutes to cook), were amazing. So fresh and crispy. I wish we had space in our tummies to try more dishes.
We had to search to find the location. When you enter the temple gate, go right through a garden to the right of the temple and turn right at the fish pond.

Buddha Feeds The Hungry Travellers - Edit
My brother was visiting me in Shanghai so we went to the old town of Qibao on metro line 9, it's a cute little version of a water town, very touristy. My brother was getting hungry and although there are lots of eateries I don't speak Mandarin so can't check for vegan food. I really wanted to show him the Buddhist temple, on our way there was a small shrine where I spotted the advert for the restaurant, I asked someone using sign language and they indicated it was at the temple. As we entered the temple grounds, which is littered with cats, there is a sign post to the right of the main buildings, it pointed the way to the restaurant. We ordered and paid at the reception before settling down at a table, it was after 1pm so the place was almost empty. I ordered some stuffed lotus root, a favourite dish, some dumplings and the Qibao noodles. The server brought us cups of tea while we waited, the place is very nice almost canteen style and you can help yourself to more tea. The lotus root were delicious in a nice tasty thick gravy, the pan fried dumplings were good, very dry and crispy and the noodles were very similar to most fried vegetables and noodles. I will go again and try more from the menu but it's good to have a place to eat in this location.
