OMG - fantastic food

The taste was phenomenal. Vegan crispy duck with noodles is a biiig portion and a bit to oily but good. Red curry with mango ... yammie.

Service was ok.

Pros: taste

Really delicious

Waiter was a bit confused and had a problem communicating in english, She misunderstood my drinking order, but it all ended up well. And the food game quite quickly and was amazing! A huge portion size and great taste. Faux duck was crispy and tasteful. The sauce tasted great and the rice had the perfect texture. When I arrived at 7 not many people were there, but at 8 it was full. Don’t miss out on this :))

Pros: Great taste, Quick service

Cons: Not good at english

A clever and tasty take on vietnamese cuisine.

Neat looking little business, with outdoor seating. I went there on a summery afternoon, had their vegan version of the traditional pho, with extra fake chicken. The broth was quite savory, but a little too sweet for my taste. The 'chicken' was tangy and of great texture and the vegetables and spices worked well together. Topped off with green tea it made for a delicious and quite authentic light lunch. Pricing was fair too, so I will definitely be back to check out other parts of their menu, maybe even the dessert, if i'm more hungry then.

Pros: nearly everything vegan and very fresh. even the l

Cons: vietnamese milk coffee not vegan, two tea options

a favorite Vietnamese restaurant

i eat there at least once a week..i've tried everything on the menu and i have to say that some dishes are meh! and pricey size-wise, but some are so tasty and hearty, and the portions are big, and for a good price! I think that's why some people love it and some are very disappointed :)
My favorite one on the menu is Dao Num - with several types of mushrooms & good veggie selection. I keep coming back for this one and it's totally worth it every time. They usually serve it with rice but you can ask for noodles instead.
The Pho and the rest of the soups are quite good. The Mango salad (Nom Xoai) is very tasty too. Udon Hap is another one i can recommend. Prices vary between 8.50-9.50 for the main dishes.
They claim they use bio tofu and you can choose between white and black, or vegan chicken/ duck for the meals.
*one thing to be aware of! - everything on the menu is vegan except for some of the Drinks! - you can have them with vegan milk but you have to tell them. It is very confusing and misleading because on the menu & the restaurant sign says Vegan Restaurant..

Great vegan food but watch out with allergies

The food here was really nice and the service very friendly. I do not drink coffee so these cow milk options did not bother me, everything else on the menu was vegan. The only problem was that the allergy information was not correct. They did not seem to grasp that if you sprinkle bits of peanut or sesame seeds on a dish, the menu should specify that these allergens are part of the dish; even if it's just a garnish. I recommend mentioning allergies to the staff before ordering.

Pros: Mainly vegan menu, quality food for low prices, la

Cons: Allergy information on the menu is incomplete.

NOT VEGAN

My friends and I just ate here because it was billed as being "vegan cuisine". The filter on Happy Cow as well as the restaurant state it's "vegan cuisine". I ordered a coffee assuming it was vegan without noticing that the menu stated "evaporated milk".

After taking a sip of the coffee, there was concern that the milk was not vegan so I asked the waiter who assured me that everything was vegan.

Only after the meal was finished and I got the menu back and confirmed that the coffee had non-vegan milk did I confront the waiter. It seemed the waiter didn't understand what vegan meant and that having milk at a vegan restaurant was "normal". It seemed to me that they assurances that everything was vegan the waiter gave me earlier was to just get rid of me without understanding what I was actually asking.

The waiter spoke German and a little English and my German is not good, so the language barrier was a factor but it was clear to me the waiter didn't understand what it meant for food to be vegan.

I tried to convey the fact that milk is not vegan and urged him to tell his manager to clearly mark which items on the menu were vegan.

Considering the place bills itself as vegan and the staff don't understand what the definition of vegan is, I'm skeptical as to whether the other items on the menu were actually vegan. For example, the dumpling skin is often made with eggs. If milk is considered vegan at this restaurant, I have little faith they would be diligent enough to pick out which ingredients are made with milk, eggs, gelatin or other non vegan products.

The food was good and very reasonably priced but the restaurant itself is NOT VEGAN, even though it clearly says "vegan cuisine" on the restaurant facade and on their menu.

Happy Cow is not allowing me to rate this restaurant as 1-start "in support of vegan restaurants", so I'm forced to give it the lowest score possible, 2-stars.

Pros: reasonably priced, decent food

Cons: not vegan, unfriendly staff

Understands vegan portions

Rare to find a place that understands how much us vegans need to eat on a daily basis. Good portions that include enough veggies and even some nuts.

O, did I mention the duck? It could have fooled anyone. It was so crispy and succelent!

Dishes vary in quality

We came here only because it was on our way and we needed to eat something small, so we ordered pho with vegan chicken, mini spring rolls, and Vietnamese pancake to split between the two of us, plus two mango lassis. I had high expectations of the pho but we were very disappointed as the broth was very watery and bland (but the chicken was good!). The pancake however was amazing and surprising. We also enjoyed the mango lassi, very rare to have a good vegan version! Overall the place was okay, service wasn't too friendly but it was also quite busy.

Pros: great pancake, not too expensive, English menu

Cons: terrible pho, service

Extensive menu, great food

Everything I ate here was served beautifully and was delicious. My friend and I shared 3 appetizers - dumpling soup, fried spring rolls and steamed bun - all amazing and full of flavor. For my entree I had fried clear noodles with vegan duck. There is a wide variety of "meat" options for all rice and noodle dishes. The vietnamese ice coffee was also delicious - something I have not been able to find a good vegan version of. Price was decent, not sure how it compares to rest of Berlin though.

Pros: Variety, Delicious, Fast service

Cons: None

definitely not flavorless!

I ALMOST didn't come here because of the reviews but I was staying nearby and decided to try. Best decision. Probably one of the most unique and flavorful meals I have ever had. The spring rolls and steam buns were perfect. I tried the "duck" which was crispy and delicious. Looking forward to eating here again. *Cash only

Pros: so many options , big portions, fast service

Cons: cash only

food a bit flavourless

I came here with high hopes but must admit I was a bit disappointed. The food was a good portion but a bit flavourless - especially compared to other Vietnamese places in the city. The lassi wasn't very good.

The staff were not overly friendly and I found it expensive. A plus is the ale meats on the menu and the fact that they have wifi

Pros: menu options, wifi

Cons: staff, price, flavour

Average / Good

There are many interesting options such as fake meats, black tofu and a lot of different dishes.
I think the cooks use glutamate which enhances the flavors but can also not be well tolerated by certain persons. I had a coconut soup which was good, but slightly too salty AND too sweet.
Good Vietnamese kitchen, but improvements could be made. Careful: They use honey and regular cow milk in certain drinks!

Pros: interesting substitutes & tofus, large choice of food

Cons: flavor enhancers used, very sweet and/or salty

exceptional selection

What makes this Vietnamese restaurant unique is the exceptional selection in fake meat. They offer normal white tofu but also black tofu and vegan chicken and duck.

Pros: vegan chicken & duck

Delicious!

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Most of the dishes come in four variations: tofu, organic black tofu, fake chicken or fake fried chicken. The portions are great and good value for money. I also like the interior (wooden tables and benches). Happy to have now an alternative to the always crowded Hamy restaurant!

Pros: great variety of dishes, well sized portions

Cons: no credit cards
