Cheap and tasty food, no english menu (but they gave us a handwritten one later) - Edit
Small bar with very cheap food. E.g. Tapas (Bocadillos) for just 1,5 - 1,8 €. Tasty Burger for 5 €. The hotdog for 2,5 € was ok. A lot of people so maybe better to call before!

needs to improve - Edit
I feel like I need to start this review with an apology. I am sorry. I have never given a bad review to a vegan restaurant before and I feel guilty for doing so because I know we should support such venues but at the same time, my experience there was quite bad.
Read moreFirst of, after driving around for a very long time to find parking, I finally stopped on the side of the street to go in and check they are definitely open, serve vegan food and we can eat there. The lady confirmed all of the above and advised where to find parking. We were back after a few minutes, and tried sitting at one of the tables but were then told they were all booked! There were three couples with kids there and three empty tables. She was very sorry but there were no tables available... Astounded, we noticed two free stools at the bar where we were allowed to sit. After all the hassle parking, we were finally there, all-vegan restaurant, we stayed.
The menu looked really promising, at 2pm, we ordered artichokes with soya, seitan with veggies, fake chorizo, patatas bravas and chickpea with spinach stew - we were really hungry. And both burgers to take away (we were going hiking the next day). We were quickly served our drinks and crisps straight from a bag, then some peanuts to satiate our hunger. Patatas bravas arrived at 2:35... Ten more minutes for the chickpeas... Then, from 2:50, slowly, slowly the rest of the food trickled in. Patatas were ok. Chickpeas was quite nice. Hard to mess up chickpeas, right? Everything else was pretty horrible. I mean we tried eating the meals but just couldn't and left at least half of each, including the burgers on the hike!!!
They also had a lemon cheesecake which looked really nice so, still hopeful, we ordered, and here is why they get two stars instead of one - it was really nice! We got another to take away.
Unfortunately, for us, the puzzle was a very disappointing visit. I have written this with a hope they improve because we need vegan restaurants around. If you have no other choice, go, maybe you will like it, but for now, I recommend going to one of the other four places offering vegan food in Gijon instead.
Ps. One table found its owners. When we left, two tables stayed unoccupied...
Pros: lots of vegan option really nice cheesecake no mea
Cons: not very tasty

Lo mejor de Gijon - Edit
Es la mejor opcion. Comida barata y bastante buena, y con algunos folletos para concienciar. No recomiendo la hamburgesa de alubias, se deshace.

Great hospitality - Edit
A real local feel. People drop by for a drink and a snack as they head home, whilst veggies and vegans feed on a full menu of tasty fare! Very few veggie restaurants in this region so do support it if you are nearby. Very friendly place, would definitely recommend.

Vegano 100% - Edit
Aunque está marcado como vegetariano es completamente vegano. Todo estaba muy rico y las raciones abundantes y a buen precio. Trato agradable. Vinimos de vacaciones y repetimos.

Tasty and affordable food - Edit
Even though it is marked as vegetarian, the restaurant is all vegan. The food was tasty and very cheap. It mantains the appearance of a traditional bar but with vegan dishes.

Affordable little bar with vegan food - Edit
This is marked as vegetarian but when we went there all the food of the day was vegan. There was also literature on veganism. The place is low-key but very affordable and the food was similar - tasty and filling but not specially presented or anything. Helpful staff. Only difficulty was the people smoking indoors which made it hard to breathe.

wonderful place - Edit
This is a small bar and unpretentious but with a very good value. Charter with an veganized Asturian typical dishes, enough variety of vegetable protein and a tasty home-style and big portions. A note, possibly the wonderfulest carrot cake I have ever tasted. If I return to Gijón I will not hesitate to repeat. Highly recommended.

Buena elección para tapear - Edit
Siempre que vamos a Gijón con un poco de prisa y necesitamos un sitio bueno, bonito y barato para picar unas tapas previas a un concierto, cine, etc... El Puzzle es una buena opción. Raciones generosas a buen precio.

Cosy neighbourhood bar - Edit
Puzzle is a small cosy bar with friendly staff, serving meat but also a good range of vegan options. The bar is on a walking distance to the city centre. However, on a Friday evening it didn't seem to be very frequented nor were many people in the neighbourhood. Price and food quality are average.

Vegan food in Gijon - Edit
We tracked down the Puzzle Bar in Gijon for some vegan food. Although it was a quiet time of day, there was a nice buzz to the place. The place was quite funky and the clientele were mostly younger, trendy, hipsters. The place sells non-vegan food, but has a whole menu listing vegan.... hot-dogs, burgers, salads, that sort of thing. Our Spanish is embarrassingly poor, but the staff did a great job in translating the menu, helped out by friendly customers.
Read moreWe ordered a platter of vegan meat-subs, with salad and chips. Which arrived exactly as described - no thrills, nothing fancy, just nice simple vegan food, which with 2 local beers and a plate of olives, came in at €18 - a bargain.
Pros: Value for money, Vegan menu, Friendly, hipster staff and clientele
Cons: Sells non vegan

fast food - Edit
The bar is not a fancy place.
Read moreBut the owner was friendly and the Burger was prepared nicely.
The food is okay, the place could need a little modernisation.
Still a good choice for a fast snack.
