Great Raw & Cooked Options - Edit
I'm far from a raw food lover. In fact usually I kind of hate that stuff (especially the desserts.) This place is definitely an outlier when it comes to raw foods. The quality didn't suffer at all.

Great option for vegans! - Edit
I was a first-timer and brought my non-vegetarian parents, and the team at Purple Sprout were very patient with my questions. We shared a Veggie Scramble Crepe (which was very good!) and an Enchilada with seitan and a lot of sides, which was also quite good. The juice we tried (Fountain of Youth!) was excellent, I bought some desserts to take home and several kinds of organic spices (turmeric, ginger, etc.) which were very reasonably priced, and it was a nice overall experience. Thank you!

I'd go for the sampler plate again - Edit
Came here for lunch with friends, couldn't decide from the varied and all vegan menu, so opted for the sampler plate. Great decision. It was tasty, filling and wholesome. The staff was friendly and the vegan waffles looked delicious - my friends said they were too.
Read moreIt's a bright space with a few tables, perhaps not the most cozy atmosphere but fine for a casual lunch or breakfast. They also offer take out.
Was too full to try one of the delicious looking raw cakes - there was a large selection.

Absolutely Fantastic - Edit
I absolutely love Purple Sprout! Their food is so delicious, and I love their "to go" section (The Freed Salmon Sushi Rolls are incredible). Everything I've tried has been delicious, and I love that most of the items on the menu are oil free. It's one of the few healthy vegan options we get around here (ESPECIALLY OUT IN THE SUBURBS!) and I am pretty thrilled that we live so close to Purple Sprout (maybe my wallet isn't though lol). The owners are so nice--it's a family owned business. They are toying with expanding, so everyone go out and show your support! If you haven't tried Purple Sprout yet, you need to.

A delicious local find! - Edit
Casual/informal, comfortable, fresh and so close!! I had the burrito with beans in a crepe and my husband had the veggie stir fry over rice (See my picture). Both were great! They have a cooler of desserts that look rich, fresh juices, smoothies, shots, breakfast, coffee, baking items, books, soap, and more. They are at the Ravinia market, have classes/lectures, and cards/brochures from local providers. Lots of reasons to come back!

My favorite vegan Restaurant! - Edit
So worth the trip, the extra price and the wait for food. (you only wait if they are busy, it is not fast food!) This place is the real deal! I've been vegan for 27 years and you can not get this quality much anymore. The food is prepared fresh for you while you wait, so if they are busy or have a number of orders in front of you then it will take time. That said, the prices are worth it when you think about the organic produce, the amazing ingredients they use and the absolutely incredible preparation that goes into these dishes. I am a soy free vegan and they take such good care of me. They label the menu with gluten free or soy free etc. I love the veggie stir fry with homemade chorizo. They make mine with coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and fresh ginger.I love the garbanzo bean veggie scramble in the savory crepe, the lentil dish, the hemp burger, the soups, the smoothies and the raw cheese cakes. I could go on and on. If you want cheap fast food this isn't your place. If you want amazing quality made to order, sit back and enjoy yummy creative vegan food. Look through the book for the pictures. It helps you decide before you order at the counter.

Disappointed - Edit
My boyfriend and I were excited to eat here but won’t be coming back. The food presentation was nice but the food its self was bland. Also tried two different drinks and were not able to finish them. The desserts looked really good but after eating our very expensive dinner we decided not to chance it

Amazing experience - Edit
They Café is small but has a an open entrance and outside seating. Combined these two features create a comfortable experience. The decorations are random and don't all fit together but this decoration scheme matches the diversity of the food.
Read moreThe food is delicious. I've tried three dishes and would recommend each of them. The food is made from scratch and leaves you feeling full, satisfied, and most importantly well!
The microgreens are declared as something they are known for and they deserve to be known as such. They should be added to any dish in which they are available.
Dishes tasted and recommended:
Crêpe with veggie scramble.
Hawaiian-style Seiten.
Burrito
Pros: Organic and Diverse menu, Healthy food and great water options, Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Great ingredients and therefore pricey, Fresh and therefore long food prep, One shared, falling apart binder menu

Friendly and Delicious - Edit
I was unsure what to expect going there but was blown away. There are tons of menu options for both food and drink, even has a sort of picture book menu. The lady working there was friendly and informative. The food came out quickly and was a hearty sized portion. I had the enchiladas with avocado and microgreens. I also had a lemon ginger hot tea...I think...for me it was a little bit overly acidic but very flavorful. Honestly, the best part for me was the piece of cake I had...it was the Carob German Chocolate Cake. I will be back the next time I pass through the area.

delicious vegan food - Edit
We were visiting from Alabama and I always like to try vegan restaurants when we travel because there aren’t any where we live. This place was really good. I ordered the Hawaiian seitan and my fiancé got some sort of dumpling dish. Both were good but the seitan was exceptional. Really delicious. I liked the brown rice it came with too which had sort of an anise seed flavor to it. For dessert we shared a piece of Black Forest cheesecake which was SO good! It tasted exactly like dairy chocolate cheese cake minus the weird aftertaste milk products give you. My 14 month old really loved it too. I also had a tea that I think was called the vitality tea or something like that. It was pretty tasty as well. I highly recommend this place to any vegans or even non vegans looking to try something new.

3/5 Stars - Edit
The cafe itself had a good atmosphere, good lighting, and excellent smoothies. I also had their breakfast waffle with the cashew cream, and it was divine!
Read moreHowever, I came back a few days later, and I had their dumplings. I wasn't too stoked on them. They were made with lentils, which were good, and wrapped in some kind of wheat dough, which wasn't all that great. It didn't look like they got a whole lot of service (holidays, maybe?), but for the most part, they were good.
Pros: Decent smoothies, Good food, Excellent customer service
Cons: "Healing" crystals in their water coolers, Much woo and pseudoscience, Some of the food wasn't that great

Pricey, but nice - Edit
I'm a dairy free ovo vegetarian... so I'm almost vegan with the exception of little things like eggs and honey that I still consume. It's tough to find places that you can feel completely free to order anything on the menu, especially DESSERT! I have a huge sweet tooth. A lot of vegetarian places still put cheese or dairy into food and desserts and it's such a pain for me. Loved that my young boys ate the food and like it (they devoured the cheesecake and smoothie) and that it's not an hour into the city from us!! We need more vegan spots up in the north burbs!!!
