The highlight was a soft serve cone dipped in a fresh chocolate shell. I hadn't been able to find a vegan version of this confection before in over 20 years as a vegan. Also, I bought a small pack of dark chocolate dinosaur-shaped candies. Excellent flavor and texture. My only regret is not buying a lot more there to take home.
Someone gifted me a box of chocolates from here and there were 3 types of caramels. I loved them all except the coconut, which isn’t my thing.
I would try more but I work full time and they never seem to be open in the evenings when I am downtown after work. Hopefully I can catch them on a weekend one day! It’s easy to miss but it is right by Virtuous Pie and down a level off of Fan Tan alley.
It was great to step into a chocolate shop and know we could choose anything that’s for sale. We tried four different kinds of chocolate: two truffles, a melk crispie bar and chocolate caramels. Everything was excellent though our favourites were the truffles (one lemon, one orange) and the caramels.
Add in friendly service and you can’t ask for more.
The best part of Pure Lovin' is that they also sell in local stores such as Pepper's Foods near Gyro beach and The Root Cellar. This is very much appreciated for those of us desperate to find chocolate for gifts, stocking stuffers, and Easter basket items. I can always count on the dark chocolate santas, bunnies, caramel cups, and other tasty chocolates to be available near me. I gift their chocolates frequently and everyone appreciates the high quality of local dark chocolate.
The store itself has a great vibe (probably because it smells like caramel and chocolate confections) and the staff are lovely. Their "milk" chocolate and caramel are delicious and a nice variation when you are not feeling the richness of dark chocolate. Their cocoa is also ethically sourced and fair trade.
