Decent option in the area

Glad to find this place for a quick bite on the way to Cottage Country. They serve vegetarian and vegan options, though the vegan options were not listed as such, so be sure to specify your preference as most things are veganizable. It was quite pricey, but offered a variety of dishes, and they were able to accommodate tree nut and sesame allergies.

We ordered the:
- Fantastic noodles: 3.5/5⭐️. This was delicious at first, but after a few bites, I no longer enjoyed the sauce and aftertaste.
- Cozy soup with the half fries and half salad. The soup was only 3/5⭐️ due to its blandness, but the fries and salad were good.
- Liberty wrap: 3.5/5⭐️. Good, but the sauce overpowered the other flavors.
- Cheerful wrap: 3/5⭐️. Fine, but not memorable

Pros: Variety of dishes, Know how to deal with food allergies, Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive, A few minor tweaks could really elevate the flavor

A decent place for a quick meal

My boyfriend and I stopped at Pure Kitchen in Kanata before going to a game at Canadian Tire Centre (because sadly nothing is near the arena). It's not all vegan, but our server told us that except for cheese in some dishes, the menu was pretty much all vegan. Unfortunately, they're also doing away with mocktail mixers, but I was able to get a nice mocktail.

My boyfriend ordered the "Cheerful," a take on a TLT, while I decided to order a crunch wrap filled with Beyond crumbles, pico, and other fillings. It's clearly a take on the fast food place with the bell. We both decided to get the belle poutine. I tried a bite of the TLT, which was sort of a pita pocket, and it was pretty good. I liked my crunch wrap, but it got cold very quickly. I sadly was not a fan of the poutine, which was a vegan cheezy sauce and gravy rather than curds, and there wasn't enough gravy.

For a casual place, the price points seemed a bit high. Still, if I'm in Ottawa again, I'll go to a Pure Kitchen (there happens to be on in the neighborhood where our hotel is), but I'll get regular fries instead.

Pros: Friendly service, Creative food

Cons: A bit overpriced, Poutine could have been better

Best Healthy Veg Food in Ottawa

So happy they opened another location out in the west end area. Perfect for those who work in the March road tech hub.

A lovely find in Kanata!

Mostly vegan menu with lots of choices for lunch. Service was fast and very friendly. Portion sizes were good and the food was so fresh and full of flavour!

Not the PK of old

I do still enjoy PK, but find that quality has really gone down lately. The menu is so small now, and portion sizes have decreased significantly... though prices remain the same.

That being said, I do like their pastries, desserts, smoothies and I love the Fantastic Bowl. Just wish it wasn't so small now (and still $23). Ah yes, and further redemption for their Korean BBQ Cauliflower Wings which are still great.

Still happy to support them, and hope they'll reconsider their menu, prices, and portion sizes 🙏🏼

Get the Korean BBQ cauliflower wings!!

The buffalo cauliflower wrap and the kale caesar salad are also super good. A fun place! Staff is nice. All of my non-vegan friends like this place too. Definitely recommend.

Vibrant Vegan Food!

I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit to Pure Kitchen restaurant in Kanata. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the friendly staff and felt instantly uplifted by the bright and airy atmosphere that includes eclectic design details in a clean and open setting.

Since we walked in without a reservation we did have to wait for about 10 minutes, which was surprising since we went on a Monday afternoon and didn’t expect it to be so busy! But I suppose that is a good sign that the place is popular and bustling even on a Monday afternoon!

The menu is fairly expansive and is broken out with one side for drinks and smoothies/juices and the other side for food. Overall I was very impressed by the large selection of food and drink items, although I will say all of the menu items are geared more towards lunchtime than dinner (even though the restaurant is open until 9PM). I will also say I was surprised to learn that all of the main food dishes on the menu are vegan (although this fact is not advertised and I had to ask the waitress to make sure), and only the add-ons are vegetarian (i.e. goat/cheddar cheese).

For food we ordered the Radical Cauliflower Wings to start, and chose the half and half option. These were incredible and highly recommended! The portion size was very generous and the flavor was spot on. We also ordered the Warrior Bowl to share and although the ingredients were perfect, we felt that overall it could have been more flavorful - perhaps by adding more of the dressing over the vegetables.

For drinks we ordered the Pumped Up and Green Yogi smoothies. The taste of the Pumped Up smoothie was delightful, as was the vibrant pinkish red hue! I would highly recommend this smoothie. Sadly I can’t say the same about the Green Yogi smoothie, as it was very bland and lacked quite a bit of sweetness. Perhaps if they had added more mango or pineapple it would have been perfect.

All in all, Pure Kitchen is a great restaurant with a vast assortment of vegan dishes that are satisfying and family-friendly. Although some of the menu items we ordered were a bit lacking in flavor, I would still recommend this restaurant as a great option for delicious vegan and vegetarian food in the Ottawa area!

Pros: All vegan menu with vegetarian add-ons, Bright and airy atmosphere, Tasty food that could be enjoyed by non-vegans

Cons: Some food items lacking depth of flavour, A little bit expensive
