There are four vegetarian stalls at Orussey Market (stall 132, 133, 169, 170, all in one group toward south west corner of the food stall area). A couple of the stalls offer noodle soups, while the others have rice and mock meat dishes. Go early. You can also buy products at these stalls for home catering (mock pork floss, veg fish sauce, veg oyster sauce). Other products are for sale at a tiny stall situated somewhere along the inside northern wall of the market (mock duck, tofu, mock chicken drumsticks). Look out for the trays of tofu out the front of the stall. The vegetarian stalls are easy to find: they all have "VEGETARIAN" or variants thereof plastered across the front. Open Mon-Sun 6:00am-1:30pm.

Fake meat - why?

I'm not a fan of fake meat and don't understand it - I keep trying it but it's never that good - this place was the same. Why not use veggies instead of trying to fake the taste and meat texture? I'm missing something?

Cons: Fake meat doesn't taste great

Directions

Hopefully this helps and is accurate: Enter from the southernmost entrance along St 141 (there's a Samsung store across the street). Inside, go 2 "blocks" north, then 2 "blocks" east. It's past some flower stalls. I ate at the SW one, it says vegetarian on the back wall of the stall.

The food was good. Got rice, a spring roll, and 4 different items for $2.50. She spoke pretty good English too.

Note: the stall numbers are duplicated across regions, so you can't just search by number if you're in the wrong section.

Pros: Cheap local dishes, Tasty, sauces also available

Cons: Not 100% sure what's vegan (but could probably ask

great stalls and yummy food

The numbers aren't in much of a logical order so it was a big hard to find, and when it says go early, it means go early!! I went at 12 and they were packing everything away!! I was able to sneak in some take away, and it was so yummy!!! And I got so much for just $2. The people don't speak much English but it says vegetarian on the stall! So good :)

Pros: cheap, tasty, friendly staff

Cheap takeaway lunch if you can find it!

Well, it's certainly an adventure wandering around this tightly packed local market to find the food! We did after a few minutes locate the food area, some backtracking and plenty of funny looks will happen but once you find the food, just look for the numbers and you'll get there. We did ask another stall and she helped us to locate it!

I don't know what number we went to as they're all bunched together, but we just pointed at takeaway (no english) and picked some bits, then gave what she asked for! Still cheap at around £1 I think for 2 meals, can't argue with that! Bit of mock meat, noodles, rice blabla. Great for long bus journeys heading East or West.
