MUST EAT HERE! Real Balinese food!

Prima is the most genuine, sincere woman you’ll meet in Bali. She and her entire family are highly spiritual in the Brahma Kumaris (Hindu) tradition. She doesn’t let anyone else cook, because they must be celibate to do so. The food is pure veg (no garlic/onion) and DELICIOUS! She and her husband go on an annual India pilgrimage to Mt. Abu and save up all year. Her daughter is a meditation teacher at their center next door. Her first born son is a famous rockstar in Indonesia. And her second son is an accomplished police officer (the good kind)! He recently went to India to study for a PhD in mathematics. NOT YOUR NORMAL BALINESE FAMILY! You MIST meet them and bathe in their unconditional love.

Pros: Uses homegrown organic vegetables, Cooks with traditional coconut oil, imperative, Traditional Balinese food u won’t find elsewhere!

Super cheap

We walked into the restaurant and waited whilst the lady served food onto plates. After a while of waiting she explained that it was a set meal and that we can sit down and it would be brought to us. Nice food but no choice or variation in the menu. We weren't given the opportunity to purchase drinks so just went without. Poor customer service but more due to one staff member doing all the work. Great slice of cake which was extra.

Pros: Very cheap meal

Cons: No variation in meal, Customer service not that great

Lovely food and very welcoming

Mama Prima was amazing, we really felt like part of her family. The food was just spectacular and the prices were extremely honest. We would recommend this over any other place in Bali.

sweetest owners, tasty food, amazing price

I cannot get enough of this place! I stayed in Ubud for three months and this was at minimum, a weekly stop. The owners are the sweetest people you will ever meet! They only offer one set meal, but it is delicious and affordable. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant and it’s nice to support local people and not just expats. :)

Pros: inexpensive, delicious, friendly owners

Excellent Price and All Vegan

Prima Warung is a welcoming little lunch spot. The nasi campur has a variety of tasty vegan dishes. They only serve one meal (the nasi campur) and some drinks. The food is very affordable, at 35,000 IDR per meal. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth stopping by for an affordable lunch.

Pros: Tasty, Amazing value

Lovely place with lovely people

You feel immediately welcome when you enter this little restaurant filled with large wooden tables and with a open view on the street. People working here are very friendly and smiley and it's like being at home.
They offer one set meal with soup. There is no menu so you get the dish that they have. I have been here several times and it's always the same dish (a kind of Nasi campur with vetables, tofu and a fritter), it's delicious, as is the soup. And cheap (35.000 rupias for the dish plus soup). The only drawback is that they only have one dish so if you go there many times it can get a bit boring.

Amazing Balinese food!

We've tried many vegan places in Bali but this was the only one we turned back more once. Very delicious local food experience. Owners are soo friendly, they make you feel home. The place is very clean and relaxing. Definitely a must place to eat.

Simple, honest, tasty fare

Tasty nasi campur (rice+veges), with soup. Wonderful pumpkin/banana cake. Food sweetened with palm sugar, which provides more complex, thus more interesting, flavoring than sugar. Uses local vegetables and fruits (e.g., jackfruit cooked as a savory vegetable!).

The charming owner/cook has a good understanding of diet, nutrition, and the more subtle effects of foods on health and consciousness, and has sufficient English proficiency to answer questions about the food served.

Exudes a strong vibe suggesting food prepared and served from the heart - a welcome alternative to the more vege-industrial type places nearby.

Best to arrive at noon, 12:30-2:30 can be quite busy.

Best Gado-Gado

I ordered the gado-gado and it was the best I've had so far! The lady was very nice and we had a little chat. Prices for both food and drinks are pretty low.

everything was vegan

I agree with what everybody is saying here. Everything was vegan, I'm not sure why this restaurant is marked as vegeterian. Maybe there was milk for coffee?

Pros: local business, super tasty, friendly owner

Authentic vegan Balinese cuisine

This small eatery is not fancy and doesn't need to be. It is clean, airy (the seating area is on a deck but under cover), and serves a great 'buffet'-style lunch to locals and tourists. This was one of the few places in Bali where I encountered locals having the same food as tourists!

For 25000 rupiah, you will be given a range of savoury treats around a mound of rice: this is nasi campur. The food is fresh, not oily, and really tasty. I was shocked at the simplicity and the quality of the operation.

And if you're thirsty, there's freshly-made fruit juice and dirt-cheap (13,000 rupiah) fresh drinking coconuts available also!

I cannot fault this establishment. I'm not sure why it's not listed as vegan, because on the day I was there, all items were vegan - I asked.

Pros: Clean place, clean food - not oily, amazing value

Cons: After one round, I was too full to have a top-up!

Love the food!

The only bad thing to say about Prima Warung is that it's not always open past 7pm.

There's just one thing on the menu, the best traditional Balinese 'campur nasi' in town. Vegetarian style.

Including delicious pumpkin soup.

And they change up the exact recipes a little bit on a daily basis. I know because I've been back 4 times!

Pros: healthy, filling, delicious

Cons: closes early

Authentic Indonesian Food

Having passed by this place a few times and noticing that it was vegetarian we decided to try our luck and get a meal here. This place is only open for lunch during the week but we were lucky to catch the owner out of business hours who was happy to serve us a meal of Nasi Campur all vegan for 25,000RP each. Was a very generous serve starting with pumpkin soup, then a large plate with red rice, a huge corn fritter, tempeh, a mild potato curry, and 4 other dishes on the plate which were all amazing. Definitely worth the visit, the owner is a lovely local lady and definitely not something you will be able to get in central Ubud.

Pros: value for money, friendly service

Cons: not open for dinner

Great nasi campur, sweet local owner

We stopped by here as it was on the way from town to our villa . Having been disappointed by several local vegetarian oriented eateries our expectations were low, but we were very pleasantly surprised.

The local lady who runs this place moved to Ubud from Denpasar because her daughter is involved with a nearby meditation center. She is the sweetest soul and so well intentioned, she truly deserves your support.

The food is delicious and as authentically Balinese as a vegetarian meal will ever get. No weird mock meats, no refined sugar and no MSG here, just love and positive vibes.

The menu when we were there consisted of Nasi Campur, some noodle dishes and juice but that was all we needed - it was a nice and varied spread of vegetables around some red rice. Flavour profiles were all really good.

Doesn't quite have the ambience of a Clear Cafe or Bali Buda but is still pleasant and clean. The furniture is chopped up wood, which gives it a cosy and comfortingly rustic feel. Definitely worth a stop.

Pros: Health minded, Sweet local owner, Authentic and yummy

Cons: Limited menu, Fit-out is quite basic
