The view is incredible - Edit
This place offers a few good options for vegans if you’re on the beach: nuggets, chips, pizzas and pancakes. However, me and my family have come multiple times to eat pizzas on the table overlooking the beach. I would say the cheese is quite thick and either ricey/cashewy, but overall the meal was amazing and a great option for vegans in st Ives who want a nice meal with a view.

Not just vegetables - Edit
Super yummy dishes, can tell they've really been thought about. The sauces and accompaniments definitely make the dishes, don't think they sound meh because they really complete it e.g the miso caramel sauce on the broccoli 😍 and almond creme fraiche with the polenta. Really recommend

Absolutely delicious food! My favourite place to eat in Cornwal - Edit
There was one vegan main course clearly marked on the menu and 5 tapas options, which we sampled all of between us, and each one was absolutely delicious. The tofu on a bed of satay flavoured noodles was amazing, as was the smoked sweet potato dish (two of these together would be generous enough to make up one main meal, but we were hungry so we had 7 between the two of us.) Every dish was beautifully presented and imaginatively put together with a delicate balance of flavours, textures and colour. There were a couple of vegan desserts available (including chocolate sorbet) but we both opted for the blueberry and pistachio cheesecake... It was honestly the best vegan pudding I've ever had! We ate at an inside table which looked out over the pretty Porthmeor Bay (I think every table, inside or out, has a great sea view.) Covid safety measures were carefully put in place to ensure everybody's safety (only one group at each large table and clear entrances and exits.) The staff and the chefs were extremely attentive, the music was chilled and the atmosphere very relaxing. For the money, this restaurant punches far above its weight. The app won' t let me give 5 stars but this is most definitely a 5 star eating experience! Reservations were hard to get at the very peak of the season but they do eventually become available- well worth persevering with the online booking system and checking every few minutes until one comes up.

Sorry to say we returned here in 2021 and there were no vegan options other than a sad salad with nothing to spice it up, so might be good to call up and enquire before you book. Chips were nice though. They must have changed their chef in 2021...I hope they put some vegan options back on in 2022!

Wonderful - Edit
Wonderful service, great for doggies and spectacular view of the whole beach and surrounding area. Delicious Vegan options and the menu clearly states what is and what isn’t Vegan/Vege. A must if you are visiting St Ives.

Beach view - Edit
Lunch with a gorgeous view! They have several marked vegan options (with a v ) including one lunch main, (which I had - salad with homemade hummus, so good!) several tapas including roasted padron peppers, fresh bread, miso glazed aubergine with noodles, confit fennel on orzo and tossed greens with hazelnut dukkah! They also have vegan desserts! The waiters/waitresses were also very friendly and lovely. Definitely worth a visit for the view alone!

What a view! - Edit
The highlight of this cafe is definitely the location and the view. Vegan options are marked on the menu but breakfast options are quite limited. The staff were friendly and offered to do a vegan version of the build your own breakfast. I had beans, butternut squash, roasted cherry tomatoes and spinach with toast and they even brought out some seasoned oil instead of butter for the toast which was a nice thought. The coffee was good.

disappointing - Edit
Had read the nice reviews of this place and as they had vegan options we thought they would be clued up and we stopped in for a drink and take in the amazing view from their deck.
Read moreI told the waiter I was vegan and asked if it was possible to have their milkshake with soya milk. He went off to check came back and said yes, all good. He brought it over and with one sip I knew it had ice cream in it. I checked with another waiter and he checked and said yes it did have dairy ice cream. I explained about being vegan and they were not very apologetic either.
Just posting here as a cautionary tale for anyone else who may try it.
Pros: great view
Cons: made a mistake with our order, bad staff experience

Amazing location, lovely selection of food - Edit
My family and I visited the Porthmeor Beach Cafe on a Thursday lunch time and were really impressed. We were sat in one of their 'alcoves'. These are set into the back wall of the outside seating area so that you can enjoy the gorgeous sea view whilst still being somewhat protected from the elements. I noticed that the alcove had a heater up on the wall, but the temperature on my visit was pleasant, so we didn't use it.
Read moreThe lunch menu has a nice selection of vegan food, there are two main dishes and quite a few tapas. If you are eating out with omnivores there will be something for everyone. I had the green vegetable salad, which was nice though not outstanding. For dessert, I had the almond milk rice pudding which was absolutely delicious (luckily so, since it is the only vegan option). I also had a taste of the bread with olive oil and the roasted baby carrots, both were lovely. If I visit again I would have tapas rather than one main dish.
They also have a wide range of juices and smoothies that are made fresh. I had a soy latte, which was well made.
Overall, the meal was by no means cheap but definitely good value for the view, food, and service.
Pros: Fresh and healthy food, Friendly staff, Gorgeous setting
Cons: Vegan entrees a little boring, Only one vegan dessert

Delicious food in a fab setting - Edit
I went here for lunch today with some non-vegans and we all had fantastic food. The staff are friendly and helpful, and didn't seem at all fazed to have a vegan customer! The menu has really good choice for vegans, including tapas, and you can look at the menu in advance on their website. I like a big lunch so I had the green vegetable salad, a smoked tofu tapas dish and shared some bread. The salad was really generous with plenty of avocado, lettuce, stem broccoli, green beans, butternut squash and quinoa, all topped with a tasty little onion and tomato sauce. The smoked tofu was deep fried and amazingly tasty, plus it came with a mini salad of cabbage, bean sprouts and nuts. I just tipped the tofu in with the green salad and mixed it round! Yum! The brown bread we had was proper doorstep sized, with seedy bits and very tasty. Overall this was a delicious meal at a reasonable price (£15 ish). The taste and thought given to the food was actually better than some dedicated vegan restaurants that I've been to! Plus the view of the beach is second to none. I'll be going again.

Good recommendation - Edit
Was recommended this place by the staff at the Bean Inn. Great location on the beach across the road from the Tate. Seating available both inside glazed area and on terrace - was a short shower when we got there so sat inside. Staff friendly and efficient.
Read moreAll veggie and vegan options clearly marked and plenty of choice on both fronts. We went for the tapas menu and had the smoked tofu, roast carrots, sprouting broccoli, jalapeño and cheese croquettes plus chips, and a couple of glasses of wine. All came quick, the smoked tofu was particularly good as was the almond 'creme fraiche, but enjoyed it all.
Given the setting, food and service thought the price tag of £15 per head was worth it.
Pros: Number of vegan options, Great setting, Good staff
Cons: No indication if drinks veggie/vegan, Only one vegan dessert
