Loved this place. Beautiful setting in the small harbour, tables under trees. Very good choice of vegan options. We ordered 7 different starters and the portions were big.

Very nice location close to the beach. The waiter was really nice and knew what was vegan. He told us that they also own the vegan place Pulse which is really good! The options at Portes are okay. Not a lot and not too interesting. We had stuffed wine leaves, fava bean dip and salad. The stuffed leaves were really good.

Lots of choices! - Edit
Lots of choices on the starters menu. We ended up getting a mix of things and there were lots more that we could have chosen too. Staff were knowledgeable on vegan diet too. Really great food!

Read moremain which was way too much but I took the leftovers Away. I had the hummus & flatbread, falafel (no yoghurt) the grilled aubergine with tahini sauce & apricot & carrot croquettes. It was all really really tasty! Strongly recommend😄

The restaurant was nice with a really friendly waiter who told me the different vegan options confidently and comfortably. The food was simple but perfect in execution. The only thing (for me) is that it’s a bit €€, so this meal was a special treat that I wouldn’t be able to afford all the time. Worth it tho

Great as ever... - Edit
I’ve been to Portes two years ago when I was in Chania and found out they it had moved to a different location. The new location is also very nice, by the sea, overlooking a small marina. The food is still exceptional, very creative and delicious with so many vegan options.

There were many vegan options at this lovely establishment by the water and we had a delicious meal. The zucchini fritters were cooked with oil instead of egg and were out of this world, the Horta was tasty, and the vegan moussaka - oh.my.god!!! Lentils were used to replace the meat which is brilliant, and the the vegan cheese truly did taste like bechamel. We left with full bellies after a delightful lunch.

This was just an amazing experience! The food was so fabulous and I had so many choices. The fava is to die for, I had a vegan mousaka with lentils and my daughter a pasta dish. We were also served for desert an amazing halva with dark chocolate.

The waiter was helpful and able to give us various options on what to eat that were vegan. We had an amazing time there. There wasn't anything that we didn't like, and my daughter is so fussy.
