best cafe in Hobart

This has become my go-to place whenever I'm in Hobart - really tasty interesting food made with love and mostly vegan. Amazing raw vegan desserts too -love the raw carrot cake. Did i mention great great coffee too. Love the little courtyard on a sunny day to enjoy lunch

Pros: excellent food -mostly vegan , nice vibe , lovely staff

Delicious!

I took omni parents here for brunch one day, everyone liked what they had and my vegan avo on toast with almond fetta and the peppermint hot chocolate with whatever plant based milk I had at the time was fabulous.

Pros: Delicious dishes, Nice outdoor space, Mint hot drinks are the best

Cons: Serves animal products (although minimal)

Food was really delicious, choc smoothie was yum,

We loved our time there, the food was really yummy I had a specials board salad that was really delicious. I just didn’t enjoy my chai with chocolate in it. But that’s probably a personal taste thing. Otherwise overall good experience. The people on the table next to us had the Jamu tea and it looked amazing

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Nice warm outdoor seating , Helpful staff

Cons: Wasn’t a fan of the chai with chocolate

Interesting menu, tasty food

I had the pulled miso mushroom burger, which was topped with black sesame seeds, ginger avocado, thinly sliced pickled cucumber, greens and grated carrot. I’m not a fan of GF buns, but this was a tasty burger. There is outdoor seating at the rear.

Cons: not all vegan

love it

Small, quaint, beautiful, quiet, unobtrusive. Staff welcoming and friendly.
The avocado smashing, the bruschetta delish, mushroom dish tasty.
Never disappointed. Good quality.

Pros: the golden rule applies

Cons: none

Awful

Awful service - we were made to feel very unwelcome. There was very little space and the coffee was disappointing. After ordering the vegan avocado toast i was served one with cheese in it and started eating it without realising. I will not be returning.

Lovely oasis - and vegetarian

I'm not sure why this lovely little place is not listed as a vegetarian cafe. I've never seen meat or fish here only cheese and eggs. There are lots of beautiful vegan options here and the food is made with care and love. My faves are the sticky date granola, the raw pad Thai and the avocado on sourdough with cashew cheese. Oh and the chocolate masala chai is to die for.

Pros: fresh produce, relaxing ambience

Cons: seating is limited

Lovely

The place was small, not a lot of seating, but the atmosphere was really cozy and ambient. Dark colours, wood furnishings and a fire place.
The food was delicious. The menu was mostly vegan with a couple of vegetarian dishes. Everything is made with seasonal produce, so the menu changes accordingly. I will definitely be going back!

Pros: Variety of vegan menu, Nice atmosphere, Super delicious!

Cons: Not a lot of seating

Homely cafe

Really enjoyed the best hazelnut milk chai I have ever had. Served in a little pot for $9. Alright, it was expensive, but did I mention it was soooo good?
Also had a sweet coconut chocolate truffle which was decadent.

Plenty of folk coming and going, nice spot for brunch or breakfast. I was genuinely excited by the menu, but we were not there for a meal that day. As a tourist in this Tasmanian town, I shall have to wait for another opportunity to sample.

Pros: Milk alternatives, Interesting vegan options

Cons: Expensive

Delightful!

Pollen Tea Room is a delightful tea house set in an heritage cottage in the historical Battery Point area. The room itself is cosy, but there is space outside which was fine even in the winter.

There are a couple of pages of teas to select from, including both herbal and black tea blends. They also sell chai and coffee. I tried the hazelnut chai which had a very earthy flavour and on my second visit the detox tea which has soft mint overtones.

The food menu is very brunch orientated with things like avocado smash and various types of eggs. There are one or two options with salmon. They also have a specials board with salads and soups. I went with the avocado smash with oil and lemon- the sourdough was great and the flavours were nice and not too overwhelming.

They also have a range of "sweet treats" that are all raw vegan. The avocado cacao triangles with blueberries were pretty amazing- lovely mousse texture over a nut base. Apparently these change, but during my visit they also had spirulina bites and superfood balls.

Staff were really friendly and helpful- both in choosing tea from the vast range to letting me know what was vegan friendly.

So, a review from a vegan who's actually eaten here... It was so good I came here twice over a weekend visit to Hobart and highly recommend.

Pros: Vegan-friendly, Lovely space, Friendly staff

Cons: Small space, Serves fish
