Fine Thai food in East Harlem

There are three very good Thai restaurants listed on Happy Cow within about three blocks of each other in the El Barrio section of NYC: Mrs. An, Chu Ros Thai, and this one. In certain ways, Plue is the most elegant and thus might be the best of the three, though Mrs. An and Chu Ros Thai each have the advantage of having a separate vegan menu. If I had to choose one, I think I'd pick Mrs. An, though this place is good too.

From the outside, Plue does not look that special, but walk inside and you see it is quite lovely, with an attractive setting with waiter service, silverware, cloth napkins, etc. There were only a couple of explicitly listed vegan items on the menu, but the friendly waiter told me that anything could be made vegan and that they do not automatically use fish sauce on their dishes (as do most Thai places). I always prefer to get something that is listed as vegan rather than a dish that is altered to become vegan, so when I came for lunch I had the organic tofu rice bowl, which was very reasonably priced and quite tasty.
