Vegan friendly. No labeling. - Edit
This modern Szechuan spot is vegan friendly, with appetizers, entrees, and noodle dishes--a bit more than the menu suggests. However, it's been a few years, and there's still no menu labeling, so combined with a recent bad experience, I'm dropping my star rating.
Read moreMost times I eat there I have a wonderful time, but I did recently go and have them forget to take our main order while we ate appetizers, then bring out my friend's (meat) entree a full 25 minutes before mine, then bring the check without being requested and before our 2 second drinks and my entree had arrived...and then offer nothing in the way of apology you might expect from a nicer restaurant. That's a whole lot of mistake for $70 a head. My friend literally ate his entire dish while I sat around, unable to share in it. Memorably bad experience that will put me off for a while.

Excellent options, helpful and friendly people - Edit
We had been to the Dump Truck before but not the main restaurant. Our server was vegan and made excellent recommendations. My favorite was the “super yummy tofu,” but everything was delicious!

Dreamy - Edit
I love this food so much. Although the vegan options aren’t marked/ most things can be made vegan and the staff know what’s up and are super accommodating without making you feel like a pain. They have tofu or several kinds of mushrooms to sub out for the meat, as well as eggless noodles, (and gf noodles if that’s your thing). All of the sauces are mouthwatering, and they are happy to up the spice level if that is something you’re into like myself. The spice is very unusual and feels delicious as well as tastes delicious. Great veggies, great rice, great noodles, amazing flavors. I will not forget my first experience eating this kind of Chinese food. Please try- it’s so dank!!

Solid szhechuan option in cap hill - Edit
Vegan dishes abound but are not marked. Speak to the server. Ours told us that the dishes without meat in the ingredients list are vegan by default 😍 They can also sub marinated tofu for meat in most dishes.
Read moreThe menu is sharing style; for 2 people we got 2 small plates (chickpea curd and eggplant) and the cold noodle dish. My favorite was the cold noodles and my friends’ was the eggplant. All dishes had very different and interesting flavors. Spice level is not as high as I’ve had at other spots but was perfect for me. My friend got a turmeric cocktail and it was good.

Vegan friendly but not marked - Edit
I was skeptical about trying this place because the menu online says many items can be made vegan but doesn’t specify which. Of the small plates, everything is vegan except for the dumplings. The rest of the food menu can be made vegan by substituting the meat for tofu. They don’t use any dairy or fish sauce. A couple of their cocktails contain egg white but otherwise you have a ton of options. Be sure to tell them you’d like it vegan and they’re happy to accommodate. The food is also pretty good. The chickpea bean curd was my favorite, but the vegan mapo tofu was also good. The eggplant dish was not really my taste but my partner liked it. I’d like to come back and try more of their menu.
