Upstairs on the main west-east road in Calangute, east of the middle round about. Smoke free, lightly air conditioned environment. The South Indian thalis are very filling. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-9:30pm.
Just got into Goa and thought I’d check out happy cow for some quick food and this place was the closest and had some fairly okay reviews. Now going off my experience, and mate I was not impressed. We ordered a veggie toasted sandwich and geeze what came out was literally a joke!! Check pictures to see what I mean. What came out was two pieces of toast cut into triangles with literally two slices of cucumber and tomatoes inside and that’s it and I ain’t even over exaggerating!! I sent my partners and mine away and told them it’s a joke all we wanted was a toasted sand which with some decent veg inside. If it wasn’t because I was starving and I couldn’t be bothered finding another place we decided to have another go at ordering and just got what we usually would order in a Indian local pure veg restaurant and got masala dosas... again was not impressed nothing special and no where near as good as basic local food quality. Tasted oily and cold and very unsatisfying!! We weren’t expecting anything special, yeah we understand but mate food here is a laugh and don’t see how people actually enjoyed this place. Absolutely rubbish!!
Thanks a ton for letting everyone know about the MSG. Its sad when vegetarians restaurants use MSG they think its the only way to bring taste. You know that they are using cheap, low quality ingredients or could be serving you stale food. With MSG you cannot detect stale food.
A self respecting chef would never use MSG
And a responsible restaurant owner would not allow it. Its really bad for health
Plantain Leaf is my favourite restaurant in Goa, it is great for breakfast/brunch, with the masala dosa and a banana lassi or a poori bhaji. They do a very well priced thali at lunch, and many different curries as well from lunch to late from all over india. Their Bhaigan Bharta is a particular favourite of ours (smoky aubergine curry).

Food is ok, but quite oily and I have just discovered they use MSG (ajinomoto) in their food.
