Fantastic plant-based cuisine 🌱 - Edit
Planta Yorkville is quite an amazing venue with a variety of delicious options to choose from.
Read moreWe had the following items and can speak on them:
1. Kombucha Mojito: "A well made mojito", had a flavourful hint of blueberry, and it was truly refreshing! A little pricey but good.
2. Bang Bang Broccoli: A must have for sharing! This broccoli was super crisp, smothered in tangy sauces, and was quite satisfying! Great "bang" for your buck 😀
3. Spicy Tuna Roll: What a burst of flavour! They did a great job with this, and if you are not a huge fan of coconut, worry not as the accompanying sauce masks it well. Otherwise you will not be disappointed! Price for the roll was quite standard compared to other vegan sushi venues.
4. Pad Thai Salad: Tangy, refreshing, spicy and filling. This dish will not disappoint your belly, and it is quite healthy to boot! The mix of textures blends perfectly to create a mouthful of fun in every bite.
5. Shoomami Pizza: Mushroom fans rejoice! I've never had a pizza quite like this! The light, crispy crust is baked to perfection and the toppings are flavourful and it's honestly nice to get away from tomato sauce once in a while. Definitely a must try!

Lovely atmosphere for brunch - Edit
On a visit to Toronto, I went here for brunch. The atmosphere is delightful and the service was very friendly. We enjoyed our appetizers the most : sushi, Japanese yams, and the steamed bun. The main courses were less impressive — brunch udon was pretty basic (noodles, “egg”, scallions, broth). Perhaps next time we ought to get the pizzas, based on other reviews !

Cons: A bit pricey, Brunch mains were a little underwhelming

Simply adore the vegan branches of Chase Hospitality - Edit
I’ve dined at the original planta many times and during covid have ordered from them many times. I love that pre-covid their menu changes regularly as I’m someone who gets tired of eating the same thing all the time. However I could never get tired of the Habibi salad. Mm!

Absolutely stellar. My daughter and I ate here and it was amazing. Three layer queso dip, Hawaiian pizza, mac & cheese, cauliflower scallopini with spaghetti /basil pesto, eggplant lasagna and gnocchi. All topped off with a very large coffee with oat milk. The servers are very attentive and I have nothing but praise for the whole experience. Wonderful

Nice and fancy - Edit
I would recommend booking a table because the restaurant seems to be getting a lot of attention as it is in a lively neighborhood. The food is great though you don't receive much in the place so it feels a little overpriced but it's nice for a special occasion

Date Night Spot - Edit
As the title suggests, we visited the Yorkville Planta location for a special occasion date night. Firstly, the restaurant itself is open and airy, and beautifully decorated. Service was superb.
Read moreWe ordered the arancini, stopped mushrooms and eggplant lasagne to share. The stuffed mushrooms and the sauce it came with was by far our favourite. The arancini was good, but we were disappointed with the eggplant lasagne, especially as this was our main dish! The eggplant was overcooked in places, quite tough to chew and fell short in flavour.
We will return, however, to try out more menu dishes, as it really is great having this all vegan spot so centrally locates!
Pros: All Vegan, Reasonable portions, Great atmosphere
Cons: Pricey, Some dishes flavourless

Amazing tasting food - Edit
Beautiful decor. I was with two other friends and we ordered a lot of food! Food had a lot of flavour and interesting innovations. Palm heart "crab" cake I would recommend. And pizza and burger were both delicious, even a simple dish like the Brussels sprouts tasted great. The meat eater in the group loved everything. A bit pricey! For special occasions and great to show to non vegans that vegan food can be incredible.

Good, but not value for money - Edit
Food was good but portions too small for the price. Cocktails were good, though, and get a 5. Decor nice but so crowded and loud that it was hard to hear my dining companions. There is something about the place which makes me think that Planta is a bit too flash and won’t actually be around too long.

Well... hmmmm - Edit
Everything tasted good... and when the more than half a dozen server staff in a nearly empty restaurant were actually around and facing our direction so we could catch their attention - they were nice... But - that being said, the service quality was poor at best... We noticed how often we - their only patrons for the longest time - were left on our own with no one checking in with us to see if we had everything we needed. When one server of 6 did finally come back to our table, it was with the next item of food... so if we'd needed anything before that, we were S.O.L. My friend finally had to get up to ask for a spoon so that we could enjoy the sauce on the udon noodle dish... It came in a bowl but didn't have a spoon with it for serving! Not very well thought out or considerate of the patron's experience - which is not very smart business... AND it kind of does a disservice to the vegan movement - when most people are vegan for compassionate reasons - this type of "no one is good enough for us" "make you wait " kind of attitude is just lame.
Read moreThe food did taste good but would be better off with the staff being more available to their clientele and there being a bit more on the plate for the price of everything. There could be double the amount and it would still be expensive. This is a place to go if you only want a small snack and to be ignored...
We were at the Queen Street (near University) location... Maybe the other ones are better managed
Pros: Nice decor, Does taste good - what little you get.
Cons: Wait staff is very poorly managed, Priorities are mixed up, Tiny portions

maitre d' tried her best to ruin an otherwise good experience. - Edit
Upon entering, the maitre d' insisted they were fully booked, despite there being plenty of empty tables. So I went to the bar and booked a table online, no problem. That really annoyed her.
Read moreOnce she reluctantly showed us to our table, the quality of the food made up for the experience thus far. The menu is great, albeit very overpriced.
Pros: Great menu, Beautiful Decor
Cons: Elitist maitre d', Patronising maitre d', Did I mention the maitre d'? She was the worst.

Guessing it’s the ambiance that makes this place great. My Uber Eats order was solid but not outstanding enough to warrant the price.

The decor is beautiful and it's very upscale. Very expensive and the portion sizes are very small so not a great value but it is an upscale restaurant. I wasn't amazed by the food I had but it was pretty good.

Staff friendly and the restaurant is lovely to eat in. Food was great - I had Frenchie pizza and my husband had the mushroom waffle. Given it 4 stars and not 5 because it is a bit too pricey.

Upscale & outstanding - Edit
The restaurant is beautifully decorated. It was definitely busy and we were told we would have to leave within an hour, so a reservation would probably have been a good idea. The hostesses were a bit snarky, as others have mentioned, but once we were seated, the servers were all friendly, helpful, and attentive and we never felt like they were rushing us. The food was delicious and the whole atmosphere was lovely.

Amazing experience! - Edit
Planta is the type of vegan restaurant you absolutely NEED to visit with friends and family. Foods influenced by Mediterranean, Asian, American, Italian, Mexican cuisines and more. The menu is very creative, with international foods which means everyone will find something suitable for them.
Read moreI tried the pizza, tacos, brownie dessert and truffles, I was blown away. The food is so delicious, fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. Great restaurant vibe, decor and size. I have to disagree with some of the reviews on here saying that the prices are too high. Of course, the prices are not going to be affordable for everyone; however, considering Planta is in downtown Toronto, is a large restaurant, has a more upscale vibe with high-quality foods, I would say the prices are reasonable. If you compare other ‘upscale’ non-vegan restaurants, they are far more expensive and the food is quite generic. Overall, so impressed by Planta and will be visiting again.

Overpriced with very small portions - Edit
Although the decor is beautiful and the service efficient to the point of obsequiousness, the very small yet very overpriced portions do make this a restaurant I will not return to.

Good food, but expensive - Edit
Have been here twice and tried a variety of things from the menu. It's pretty good, but isn't for everyone, especially given the price. There are several other places I would recommend to people before Planta. Went once with non-vegan family members and they all enjoyed it quite a bit. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if that was an option.
