Wow! Excellent menu and fun atmosphere - Edit
We really enjoyed this Tapas style restaurant. your table orders plates to be shared, which makes for a fun communal and conversational atmosphere. We loved the Thai lettuce wraps, Japanese sweet potato, 🍠 and cauliflower. The service was excellent as well. Really enjoyed the whole experience.

Happy with every aspect of the meal! Beautiful setting, helpful staff and delicious food. Most plates are really meant for sharing. So an appetizer and main per person works out about right.

Really no way around a 5/5 here. Incredible textures and flavors on the unique dishes on this menu. You can’t get vegan food like this everywhere! The ambiance was gorgeous making it a perfect place for a more celebratory or fancy meal.

Great vegan sushi! - Edit
I love Planta Queen, so it was a welcome surprise to find one in Chicago. The sushi I had was tasty, though not as well done (less flavorful. Warm sushi was served cold) as in their NY location. The wonton soup was surprisingly bad. However, I really enjoyed their non alcoholic cocktail selection . If you’ve never been to a Planta Queen, it’s worth a stop. Best vegan sushi around, but their execution at this location could be better.
Read moreI would most recommend the torched and pressed, eggplant nigiri, Japanese sweet potato and bao bun.

Amazing vegan food in gorgeous surroundings - Edit
Loved my experience at Planta Queen Chicago.
Read moreI had heard great things about it and was not disappointed!
The staff were all very friendly and talked us through the menu and also told us some of the sushi was half price on the evening we visited (Monday evening) which was a bonus!
I visited with 2 veggies and a meat eaters and they all loved it.
Me and my partner shared the Dragon Rolls, 1000 layer crispy potatoes, bao sliders and potato truffle dumplings - all of it was insanely good!
The portions were huge and even though it’s a bit on the higher priced side, you definitely get great portions, presentation and tastes sensations to justify it!
Lovely decor and lighting. Great place to to take people for a nice evening meal.
Would love to go back next time I’m visiting the States
Pros: The amazing tasting food , Decor, lighting and ambience , All vegan menu

Was visiting for a conference and came with some non-vegan friends, who loved this, too. Favorite dishes were mushroom dumplings, spider roll sushi (a special), Singapore noodles, and matcha cheesecake. Great atmosphere and service. High quality cocktails

I was underwhelmed by Planta Queen - Edit
Overall the food was good but I was expecting something mind blowing after reading other people's reviews. I'd give Planta Queen 3.5 stars but as Happy Cow doesn't allow half stars I went with 4 stars because Planta Queen is all vegan.
Read moreWe got a take away order of crispy gyoza, bao slider, torched & pressed, and unagi eggplant. I liked the torched & pressed the most out of the dishes we ordered. I didn't care for the bao slider. I wish there were more options on their menu that weren't spicy.
The restaurant had a pretty cool upscale atmosphere and the food was ready when we arrived to pick it up.

Hands down, this place is incredible! We got the sushi box, mushroom udon noodles, and bao bun. Definitely the best Japanese food we’ve had.

Meh - Edit
Took forever to have a server come and take our order and she didn't explain the menu structure well. When we heard a better server giving the lay of the land to the table behind us we had some order regrets. Food comes piping hot and beautifully plated and we did enjoy our dishes but it felt overpriced for what we got and I've had better. One high point was the GM bringing me another dumpling after I spilled water all over the one I had been eating.

Phenomenal food - Edit
Last place we ate at the end of a week long stay in Chicago. Probably the tastiest food we had. Took a while for the mains to come out but the super friendly staff were very apologetic and kept giving us updates so think was unusual. The egg plant miso truffle sushi was incredible as was the udon mushroom truffle noodles.

More Protein options - Edit
Drink was fantastic and I loved the ambience. But while the food was spectacular, I wish there had been more protein options. Felt like a good place to go for appetizers, but maybe not for a full meal.

Been to the location in NYC; Chicago did not disappoint. Bang Bang Broccoli, Gyoza Dumplings, Dragon Roll each had such great flavor. Lots of small plates good for sharing. Will definitely go back.

I’ve been to Planta in Toronto so I already knew what I was expecting. The weather was prefect so I ate outside. The food was delicious. I knew how filling the dishes are and how tempting the menu is, so I prepared to not over order.

Good Vibes - Edit
Nice selection of options. We tried as many dishes as we could fit in. A couple were quite heavy on the ginger which overwhelmed the other flavors. The atmosphere was high energy but relaxing. They were packed on weekday but the food arrived fast and the waiter was attentive once we were seated (even with a reservation you may have to wait - which I didn’t mind since they don’t make you feel rushed.)
Read moreSecond outing they seem to have a little bit of a chaotic system with several different people coming to your table so you never really see your waiter after ordering. I tried the udon noodle dish that was ok. Nice to have a bit of a nicer restaurant for date night etc.

Upscale vegan restaurant - Edit
This place has three dollar signs for a reason, but their food is phenomenal. I’ve been here twice (at the time of writing this review) and both times the food and drinks were for the most part top-tier and worthy of their price.
Read moreThe first time I went was for dinner, and from start to finish everything was perfect. The bang bang broccoli is a classic for a reason and the dumplings we got (sweet corn?) were incredible and the sauce they used was so good I found myself wishing I had a soup of it, lol.
The next time I went was for brunch where the main dishes were outstanding, but my egg dish arrived a good 20 minutes before my date’s meal arrived, so I had my food just sitting there getting cold because I didn’t want to start eating without her. Then I ordered the chai cinnamon roll which came out overcooked (not at all soft and fluffy like you’d expect from a cinnamon roll). To the waiter’s credit, he put in a new one for me without hesitation, but sadly that one came out the same as the first.
I don’t want to dissuade anyone from this place, as they have some of the best vegan dishes you’ll find, and maybe that second visit was just an off day for them. It won’t be enough to stop me from going here or recommending this place to other people.

Mushroom Udon - Edit
One of the best places to take myself out. I love sitting at the bar, ordering a drink and a maki roll to start and ending with Udon; there is a reason the mushroom Udon is a rave fav.

vegan hip fine dining - Edit
If you haven’t been your socks will be knocked off. The problem is deciding what to order. you want to order one of everything. Super chic vibe to start with. The general chow cauliflower with soft tofu is to die for can’t go wrong with any of the noodle dishes. Cool part of town that appears to be very safe compared to what you see in the news. Good job Planta queen!

The truffle udon noodles were amazing. Heavenly. The menu has a great variety, making it hard to choose (everything sounded delicious). If a Planta were to open in my city I would be there weekly, but it makes for a special treat when I am lucky enough to find one when traveling.

Sadly disappointed ): - Edit
My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and were pretty disappointed. The service was very slow, I wasn’t checking the time, but I don’t think our water came until 10 minutes after we were seated. My food came out at least 30 minutes before my husband’s so we couldn’t eat together. My pad Thai was crazy spicy, which it didn’t disclose. I don’t do well with spice so my husband ate it and I ate his fried rice. The mushroom fried rice was very bleh. It didn’t really have a good flavor, and the presentation was weird. My husband loved it though, so maybe it’s just me.
Read moreVery pricey for a place that allows gym shoes and athletic shorts, but that’s Chicago. The sushi pictured was $7 just for the two rolls. They were bland too.
Almost everything on the menu is spicy, so be careful if you’re sensitive to spice.
