Airy, spacious-feeling cafe over two floors with outside seating. Does some light meal options, specials and regulars e.g. burgers, ramen stew. Lots of cakes and baking and hot drinks.

It’s a little bit pricey for what you get and often the meal options include fake meat names which I’m not into. Vegetables are first class citizens. 😄 I’ve found the meal options I’ve had a tiny bit lacking in flavour. But that’s probably me and too much Yotam and Ixta recipes. https://ottolenghi.co.uk/our-stories/the-story-of-flavour

It’s amazing what they manage to produce from that tiny kitchen, and I will definitely be going back. Good luck to you all. A definite plus for Keswick.

Delicious Sunday Roast!

My husband and I had a Sunday Roast this past Sunday and it was delicious! I had the garlic and rosemary meat, and my husband had the haggis. We both felt that the food was really tasty, and we would have gone back if they weren’t closed on Sundays!

We had the carrot cake for dessert which was moist and flavoursome!

The staff were all super nice, too, and were very happy to recommend a local walk!

Note: there was a sign saying that they’ll be closing over the winter season.

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, Well located

Wonderful cafe!

Such a lovely little cafe that is absolutely worth a visit! I got the impression the menu changes fairly frequently, but the food that we had was fantastic. A very tasty ramen dish, Buddha bowl and burger. The vegan milkshakes were delicious too! There is a little shop associated with the cafe which has some really interesting stuff.
The staff were super friendly and happy to chat. It is also dog friendly.

Pros: Very tasty food, Lovely staff, Great drink selection

Bland

A previous review 2 weeks ago said they did all day breakfast! They certainly do not!! The soup was bland and came with a packet of oat crackers very poor and boring. Poor choice of menu, the "breakfast" choices sounded good on the menu but did not serve it after 12! I always find that strange it's just food! the place is very tired looking, coffee bitter. Unfortunately, this type of eatery does not help the cause of veganism.

Pros: No animals are harmed

Cons: Food, Coffee, Choice on menu

Basic

The overall cafe could do with a referb inside and its not very inviting. Food was very basic, ordered a sausage sandwich and bacon and cheese sandwich, all shop bought and nothing homemade. Staff were friendly and they allow dogs are the pros. Unfortunately will not be back

Came for the Sunday Roast

My partner found that they did a Sunday Roast between 12-3 only on a Sunday (funnily enough). We had the garlic and rosemary “meat”. The meal was delicious.

I also had a milkshake and again, was just bang on.

The staff were really nice as well.

Great vegan find in Keswick!

Just happened to see the sign and thought it sounded vegan, so went to have a look. Lovely little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are friendly. The kitchen stops serving meals at 4pm, but they still serve cake and drinks after that.

The rose and pistachio cake was divine. Kids loved all the flavours of milk shake. Can thoroughly recommend the hot chocolate too!

We went back a second time and ordered meals, which were delicious. My family all had burgers, which looked lovely (they use moving mountains, but have a nice range of toppings), and I had a "beef" wrap. They have a mix of wholefood and junk food items on the menu.

They also have a little shop. I bought some smoked "salmon" which I'd not previously tried, I didnt have high hopes, but it was amazing. Pairs well with Miner Threat cheese by @iamnutok.

Lovely place. If I'm in Keswick again, I'll definitely go back at least twice!

Wonderful

Great vegan-only menu and lots of gluten free dishes. Fake meat style dishes as well as more "purist" choices. What's not to like? Even great desserts and coffees.

Excellent little vegan cafe

It was so good to find this cafe, I've been in the Lake District for a week and this is the first I've found open.
Good menu choices, I had falafel salad, decent portion and very tasty.

Very tasty, but don't order the wrap

The burger plate was great: a tasty burger (we got cheese and bacon), roasted potatoes, salad, and coleslaw. The wrap was a disappointment. There were barely any pieces of vegan marinated meat, very little salad, and cost over £10! It was so thin that it looked like I was only eating a rolled up flat bread. Shame they were so stingy with this item given the other was a decent portion. For dessert, we had a hot chocolate with marshmallows (yum) and the coconut lime cake which unfortunately was a little dry although the cream was delicious.

Overall though, the flavors are spot on. Just don't order the wrap. 3.5 stars

Good option in Keswick

As always after an overnighter in the Lake District mountains, we searched for a good cooked breakfast and found this place. Really nice staff, nice place, good options. I wasn’t bowled over by the cooked breakfast, and definitely not for price. Size of the large breakfast wasn’t great (£13), the sausages had that hot dog taste I don’t like, and the coffee was uninspired. But I like what they’re trying to do in there. Also got some cakes to take away - only tried the ginger cake which tastes very nice. Options to buy products in the back. Probably would go back, but look for an all day cooked breakfast elsewhere

Pros: Interior, Staff, Cakes

Cons: Coffee, Sausages

Busy little place

They fitted us in upstairs and everything came, drinks and cake. People near us were having meals and they looked fantastic. Would definitely come back to try more things if we are back again. The jaffa cake cake is really just chocolate and orange flavour chocolate cake, I was interested in how they would have done the inner sponge (slightly crunchy) part of a jaffa cake.

Hits the spot

Had the best food and coffee at Kat’s kitchen today!
My partner and I both got ‘the works’ burger and it absolutely hit the spot after a big day of hiking!
The food, coffee and service are all spot on and I would give 6 stars if I could!

Strange menu, but nice to have a vegan place

Is this place under new management? We went a few years ago and it was charming and had lovely options, but the menu is really weird now, a mixture of Greek salad, Spanish dishes, ‘poutine’ which is roast potatoes and gravy, burgers and chicken dippers… not exactly a cafe menu. We tried to get take out and asked for the wraps but they would only do burgers for take out, bit strange for middle of the day on a weekday when they weren’t busy! A sandwich and cake would be fine! That being said it’s lovely to have a vegan place in Keswick.

Pros: It’s vegan, Dogs allowed

Cons: Strange menu, Would only do burgers for take out

decent

we had a nice lunch here. polite staff. sat outside as it was a sunny day. I think the portions of the wraps were a little stingey though. also not much tzatziki in mine, could have been more full and there wasn’t much salad. was tasty though. my mum really enjoyed her falafel wrap. my dad had the classic burger - his review: good but could have been a bit hotter (temperature)

Hearty food after a day on the hills

All vegan eatery with a decent range of options that should appeal after a day of hiking.

Pros: All vegan, Range of options from mains to cakes and milkshake, Plenty of outdoor seating if the sun is shining

Cons: A few healthier options, quite heavy on fast food

Half term menu just burgers and sandwiches

Not the healthy cafe I remembered. It was a "half term menu" with just moving mountain burgers with choices of toppings, baked potatoes and sandwiches with sausage/cheese etc fillings. We had a "the works" burger and baked potato with beans and cheese. The burger was too expensive for what it was at £15. Toppings were nice but very few potatoes and a tiny bit of salad. Cheese on the baked potatoes wasn't melted and less beans than I would've put in.
Surprised that staff had no idea where to park nearby but that you can't outside even though there is no sign so I doubt I could've been ticketed. Paid £3 to park in the Pencil museum nearby but have no idea if the other car parks might have been cheaper. If I ran a business I would make sure I was able to advise people where to park nearby but apparently they are not. I did wonder if it was under new management as it's changed so much since my last visit (which must've been pre pandemic). It was also not packed like on my previous visits which perhaps is because it's not as good as it used to be.

Pros: Completely vegan

Cons: Not much choice, Unhealthy choices, Expensive
