Casually Elegant - Edit
Was thrilled they lived up to their reputation! TThe open kitchen design allowed me to see firsthand their fresh Al minute approach as I ordered a ravioli starter and got to watch a line chef feed fresh sheets of pasta through the roller. Each dish was pretty magical but the cheese plate had my heart and made me wish I wasn’t sharing 😂 The dishes were beautifully plated, elegant and not overly fussy. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere clean and airy.

The food was spectacular, especially the cheese platter. Best vegan cheese platter I’ve ever had and my non-vegan boyfriend loved everything, too.

Oh dear lawd! Pure heaven! - Edit
We have traveled around the world trying incredible vegan restaurants, and this gem was in our own state. EVERYTHING was perfect! EVERYTHING! The food, the service, the food, the atmosphere, the staff, the food! We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the magic happen. What a well-oiled machine! As the cooks were preparing the food, we saw staff members making sure that all of the surfaces stayed clean. The owner was working alongside everyone and was making sure that everything was going smoothly and that everyone was happy. At one point he took an ice cream that they weren’t going to sell and made it into milkshakes for the entire staff. Each staff member got to stop for a moment to enjoy their shake. We enjoyed watching one of the cooks enjoy his shake, and after he took a sip, we read his lips as he smiled, and said, “My goodness!” We chatted briefly with the owner and some of the staff members, and they were all so nice and obviously like what they do. Our server was fun and skillfully helped us to choose our order. After each course, she brought us compostable to-go boxes so that we could take home enough for a meal the next day. We started with the cheese plate, and oh my goodness! Incredible, and I make homemade cheeses! We had a cauliflower dish, a roasted beet dish, a ravioli dish, and then a main dish with mole. We were trying to decide which was our favorite, and we really couldn’t choose because they were all so good! We don’t normally get dessert, but we did get the matcha crème brûlée, and it was outstanding! Even my drink was delicious! I had one of their homemade basil lime sodas. Overall, this is one of our absolute favorite restaurants!

Elevated vegan dinner - Edit
We were so excited to be able to visit Plant again - dog in tow - now that they offer reservations on the enclosed patio. My partner and I split the toast, grilled beets, seitan marsala, and peanut butter chocolate cheesecake. The food was excellent, and the "Wine Wednesday" special for 50% off bottles was enticing. The food is definitely a fine dining level of excellence, and thus, amazing quality for the price point.
Read moreI do think the initial guest experience could be improved upon, especially since this feels like what could be a special occasion spot for many. Despite a weeknight reservation and arriving 5 min early, we were not seated for 15-20 minutes as a result of an out-the-door line. I felt for the hostess, who was scrambling to seat parties with reservations as well as walk-ins; one couple seemed to leave in a huff after waiting for awhile. It was very loud inside, which added to the frazzle. Thankfully, the patio was serene with attentive service.
That said, I am thrilled that a 100% vegan restaurant is doing so well, and we look forward to dining outside again in the future.

Delicious food, skip the dessert - Edit
We ate here for dinner, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. They have small plates/tapas as well as larger entrees. The food was a bit on the expensive side, but not any more than you’d expect for a more upscale restaurant. Our desserts were not very sweet and nowhere near as good as the rest of our food, so I wouldn’t recommend dessert unless you don’t like it very sweet.

Great menu, so much variety and good size portions
Read moreFalafel - very creative, perhaps a tiny bit oversalted
Ravioli - so creamy, mushroom flavor really came through
The curry - not spicy at all but so many different flavors and textures
Peanut butter cheesecake - incredibly rich, absolutely delicious
Matcha creme brulee - matcha flavor didn't really come through but still loved this. Very delicate, pistachio crisp amazing, bananas amazing.
Edit - second visit update!
Toast - tasty variation on a bruschetta
Cheese plate - yummy! Though to me, cashew cheese all taste fairly similar
Mushroom mole - excellent

Superb Meal! - Edit
Absolutely the best plant-based meal we’ve ever eaten! We shared 5 small plates and loved every one of them. Our favorite was the beets - just amazing! The brownie sundae for dessert was heavenly! Our server AJ was the best - very helpful in making suggestions to help us navigate the menu options (we wanted one of everything!) We’re in Asheville all week and will try to go back and try more on the menu!

Phenomenal! - Edit
Everything here was outstanding, gorgeously plated, and a delightful orchestra of flavors. Not gonna lie, I contemplated asking their chefs to marry me. Make your reservations now. Be sure to try the ravioli; it was everyone's favorite, though everything was superb. Regretfully did not get photos of desserts before demolishing them. Will probably road trip to NC again JUST to eat here. #Veganuary

Location/parking/the dining area - Edit
You know it's a "Twilight Zone moment" when you see a few things as obviously troublesome, that no one else is mentioning. And with Plant, it is the location, lack of parking spaces, and the cramped atmosphere of the dining area.
Read moreIf driving from downtown at night at 40 mph, approaching Plant, and immediately after going over the other side of a hill, you must be prepared to start slowing down or you might go right by it. If it is visible in time, and a car is about to exit from their parking lot, you may be unable to enter and be forced to go past it. If you make it into the parking lot, be prepared for very few or no parking spaces available at all. If this happens, you will have to pull back onto a busy four lane highway, start the process all over again, but not before having to wait for the light to change, while still in the parking lot. (The other exit is near the top of the hill where there is no visibility of the fast oncoming traffic coming down the other side).
It is a medium size room at best, and clearly not equipped to handle a lot of people. Expect a compact seating arrangement, which creates involuntary rounds of listening to other people's private conversations, which kills the "fine dining vibe" they appear to be going for. (It is very dimly lit).
In summation: Considering the quality of the food and the service, I will still give it 4 stars nonetheless. And with improving the aforementioned problems, it would be much more in agreement with the higher price that one must expect when dining at this particular type of restaurant.

Fantastic! - Edit
This is hands down the best vegan restaurant in the world. And we have been to many, if you check my reviews. We started off sharing the creamy raviolis topped with mushrooms. Delicious. And the cheese plate. You must share the cheese plate. This is not Tun of the mill grocery store vegan cheese. These were some delicious creamy vegan cheeses. I ordered the pecan crusted Tempe on a bed of mashed potatoes. It was crispy and delicious. My wife had the generous bowl of ramen with grilled tofu. It was a giant bowl that she could not finish. According to her it was delicious. Our 2 Omni friends got the beet and toast plate and another ramen bowl. For dessert we shared the brownie a la mode. Superb. The cheese cake that was outstanding! Forget about ever buying grocery store frozen vegan cheese cake. This cheesecake is way better. Legit. Absolutely Fantastic. And the creme brûlée, this last one was good but had a mint flavor that I could skip but good never less. All in all, like stated before. Best vegan food we have ever been to. Place is upscale dinning. By reservation only. Small and cozy in the inside with dimmed lights. Very intimate nice romantic atmosphere. Very good service and the food. The food! We will definitely come again.

I Don't Write Reviews! - Edit
I live in Southern California, traveled extensively, and been a vegan for 12 years. I was in Asheville this past weekend and stumbled on this restaurant on Happy Cow. From the outside, my date and I questioned our choice. We hadn't made a reservation and were surprised to see the placed filled with patrons. No surprise anymore. Our two dinners were as good as it gets! Amazing place and not to be missed. Vegan or non-vegans alike, it doesn't get any better. Thanks for one, if not two of the best meals of my life.
