One of the best vegan francesinhas! - Edit
I was so happy to find this place on the Caminho Português this summer. The lady was extremely nice and we had such a funny conversation. Even though that she always tried to force me to improve my terrible Portuguese.😉

They welcomed us with great English and awareness of veganism. It was our first restaurant in Portugal and looking back I feel like it was a nice introduction to how friendly and kind Portuguese people are all around the country. It's a small, not very pretty place where you can meet old men watching football and drinking beer. But we enjoyed the Francesinhas. Don't expect too much, it's more about the raw, simple, old style experience.

Read moreThe francesinha was amazing. Lots of sauce, fries and a handmade burger make a great combination. The owner is incredibly accomodating and nice. I was enjoying my francesinha so much that I only took a picture halfway through the meal.

Vegan menu available - Edit
They had a seperate vegan menu listed in front of the restaurant. They offer both vegan and vegetarian options of the traditional francesinha as well as a burger. They also had a vegetable soup (made with cauliflower and broccoli). They were not able to make the vegan francesinha the day we went so we opted for the burger. We were a little nervous since the reviews on happy cow were not the best in regards to the burger, however we thought it was very good. It does look a little weird since it's only the burger patty on a plate with fries and a lettuce with two slices of tomatoes but the staff asked if we wanted bread on the side. We ended up doing our own burger with bread and it was actually quite good. We could clearly see quinoa and peas in the burger patty so it's not highly processed "beyond meat" type patty. Overall a good choice when you are with family or friends that are not veg.

Lovely host. Limited vegan options. But if you are looking for an amazing vegan version of a traditional local dish (see the pictures in happy cow) it's the place to go. The vegan patty was yummy. Don't let the look of the place discourage you.

It’s not a great place to it at, but the francesinha is indeed good, with vegan cheese. I don’t recommend asking for the vegan burger, though. It disappoints big time.
