Yum Vegan pie! - Edit
Had the vegan pie, hearty, tasty and filling. Chunks of mushrooms, sweet potato mash on top and pumpkin seeds. Was very tasty. Ate it too fast so didn’t get a photo sorry!

Vegan Mexican Dinner at Pilgrims - Edit
I was not a big fan of dinner at Pilgrims in Milton. It wasn’t an exciting menu but maybe I ordered the wrong dishes. The vegan nachos, burrito and burrito bowl lacked flavour. I didn’t order any dessert but it may be nice. Check out my blog post https://cookingwithyoshiko.com/vegan-lunch-and-dinner-at-pilgrims-vegetarian-cafe-on-the-south-coast/

Good stop off on your travels with great food, drinks and service - Edit
We were very happy with our visit here. Very good food, good sized portions. $20 a person got you a burger and a shake or regular juice which I think is ok value given the size overall of the portions, the juice wasn't stingy.
Read moreThey were very busy and said wait would be 20-30 minutes. Drinks came reasonably promptly, 3-5 minutes or less I wasn't timing and food came in quick succession short of the said 20 minutes I think, all meals came one after the other so no one was left hanging.
No chips on the menu😒but I must say retrospectively I couldn't have squeezed them in too so lucky they didn't have any.
Great burgers/wraps and an array of drinks on offer.
Two burgers are Vegan the Millenium and the Tofu. These also come as Gluten Free. The Millenium as Vegan and Gluten Free was fantastic, that is what I'll be having next time. The Tofu which is meant to come as a wrap but as GF it came in the same bun as the Millenium. The Tofu was a bit bland TBH. Maybe a nuttier sauce or something else to give it some zing, it was ok but not stunning.
Drinks were fantastic and a very good size. Bombie juice was very good, Espresso (soy) shake very good, Vanilla (soy) shake was good, mango lassie (not soy) apparently good, tumeric soy latte also rated well from the group.
So a burger and a regular sized juice were very filling even for a big bloke. Whack a shake and a burger in a 12 year old that doesn't know when to say enough and you have a car sick accident waiting to happen. If you go jumbo I recon you'd need to take the rest of the drink away. Was very busy, not surprising given it was the tail end of school holidays. Outdoor seating, semi outdoor seating and indoor seating all available and quite pleasant. Heaters in the semi outdoor area for when it gets a bit cooler.
The difference between the two burgers is the patties. The Mixed Grain Pattie is bound by egg whereas the Curry Lentil Pattie is not. Group also had the Mountain Burger (vegetarian - eggs) and the Bliss burger. Both rates well apparently. Not sure if you can mix and match patties, didn't test their flexibility on this, they seemed like nice people and very friendly so I recon you're in with a chance if you were polite enough.
Pros: Good location, seating, decor, etc., Parking available in side streets , Good food, good portions, friendly service
Cons: Milton is a Tourist haunt so can be V.Very busy

Very disappointing vegan options - Edit
For a caf jthat calls itself vegetarian there were very few vegan breakfast options available. Even the granola hass honey in it and they were unable to give me vegan spread with my toast as they only have butter. That are more vegan options on the lunch menu

Cons: Very few vegan options on breakfast menu

Peanuts prevalent - Edit
In the end it turned out ok, but as one of us has a peanut allergy it was sad to see so much of the food containing peanuts (most of their burgers, for example). BUT they will substitute the vegan non-peanut burger for the mainstream one and everything worked out just fine.
Read moreSo unnecessary though. Peanut allergy is prevalent so why?
Pros: great staff
Cons: too many peanuts

Delicious vegetarian cafe in Milton - Edit
Not sure why so many reviews are saying limited options. There are so many (as per attached pics)! Food was delicious and there were plenty of seating. It’s ok the Main Street (Princes Hwy) so was a perfect stopover for our road trip. Look forward to going again on our way back. Didn’t get pics of the food because we demolished them so quickly.

Not many vegan options. Vegan pie had no flavour. - Edit
I thought there might be more vegan options. Nice looking cafe but the vegan pie had no flavour and my juice didn’t taste like fresh juice. Couldn’t finish either and I’m not a picky eater.

Left due to little vegan options - Edit
After driving to Milton hoping to find great vegan options at this vegetarian place we were informed that only one of their burger patties is vegan, the curry lentil patties. I am not a big fan of curry and lentils so we were left to have a make shift picnic of fruit in the park.
Read moreVery disappointed in the lack of options!
A simple black bean burger would be all you need to keeps us happy.
Pros: Fresh juice
Cons: Very little vegan options, Not much variety in burgers/toasties

Wholesome and healthy - Edit
Although we needed to ask about the vegan options, the staff were knowledgeable and well imformed and we had a delicious meal. Gluten free bread also available and was pretty tasty. Fresh, tasty juices and vegan powerballs get my thumbs up too. Very popular place so seating can be in short supply but only a short wait was necessary. Definitrly worth a stop.

Great Vegan Burger But Not Many Vegan Options - Edit
The Millennium curried lentil burger is the only vegan option, it's very well done - soft bun, delicious sauce and perfectly wrapped. The mixed salad can be done without feta. Would come back for the burger alone.

eating vegan at pilgrims - Edit
Yes it is very tasty, I have always loved eating there, but the options for vegans are not all that vast unfortunately. Even the tofu was marinated in honey, I have been vegetarian for a long time and have just recently gone vegan, you can order whatever burger you like if you are vegan but you have to change a lot of things on it to make it vegan: no cheese, get a lentil patty bc the grain patty is made with egg, tofu is marinated in honey so don't get that, no egg, pies have cheese, check what soy Mayo they use bc I have only seen soy FLAVOURED egg mayo in shops down here before and idk if that's what they use or not.

a must on the south coast!! - Edit
The south coast of New South Wales is one of Australia's best kept secrets(until now). Much more beautiful than the north - give Surfers Paradise a miss, go South! Well, the water is cold in the winter, but in any season you can call in and have a great brunch or lunch at the Pilgrims - is also eat-in, not just takeaway. At the back there is a terrace which is quiet and sunny.
Read moreTheir veggie and vegan burgers are sensational, my favourite is the Blissburger: veggieburger, salad, pineapple, peanut sauce. Then there are their drinks, try the mango smoothie.
Only trouble is that a burger and a smoothie is a big lunch - share with a friend! Prices are reasonable, I think good value for the quality you get.
Pity it closes at 15:00 hours and closed on Mondays.
Milton is a small country town a few km inland from the coast, 8km south is Ulladulla which is more urban. Closest beaches are the beautiful Mollymook and Narrawallee(5km). Inland are the stunning but rugged Budawang Ranges.
Great area to spend a holiday! ( I have since my childhood and no, I don't work in a tourist agency!)
Pros: great food
Cons: closes at 15:00
