Cracking pie n mash! - Edit
I’ve had the vegan pie, mash and minted peas with the vegan gravy a couple times from here as a takeaway. It’s always been really tasty and full of flavour. I would definitely recommend if your from the uk, living here and fancy some home comfort food 😊

Shepherd-less pie heaven - Edit
Before going vegan whenever I saw shepherd’s pie on a menu that was my go to. The shepherd-less pie was just as tasty and came out hot and steaming. It was perfect.

So Happie! - Edit
As an Englishman in China, a chance encounter with this little slice of Britain was a minor miracle when I first arrived here. After sampling the vegan bangers and mash I was hooked on this tiny place. The wonderful owner Jane is so friendly and speaks perfect English which is great for people like me who don't speak any Chinese. This place is popular with the foreign crowd and it is great to have a place to take friends who are visiting as well as introducing it to my British friends who live here. The pie names are also great puns. The new larger canteen branch has more vegan options which are constantly expanding and it's great that they're providing these options. I've eaten here so many times in the 20 months I've been in Shanghai, before going vegan I've tried the cheese and onion pie, the chips and curry sauce (an old favourite from Manchester chippies). The minted mushy peas, the pies, the gravy, the mash, it's all very tasty and satisfying. If you fancy a little taste of Britain, this must be the place.
Read moreNot been to this one for a while so was happilly surprised to see the vegan breakfast available, I've had it before at the canteen branch. They've replaced the tofu scramble with JUST egg & the sausage patty with an OMNIPORK patty, personally I preferred the tofu & old style patty however this is an amazing vegan breakfast (even though I do find the broccoli out of place on a breakfast plate) the fact that they also have HP sauce for the sausage is a big plus!
Pros: Great pies., Vegan and vegetarian options., Great value.
Cons: Also serves meat and dairy

Satisfying and delicious - Edit
Service was fast and efficient. The very tasty Shepherd-less pie came piping hot over a hearty portion of sweet potato carrot mash with vegan gravy, and the vegan sausage I got on the side was especially delicious. The toffee apple cider was cold and yummy as well. RECOMMEND.

Vegan pie - Edit
Came here for dinner in December 2018. It is a small space with a small table (can sit 2-3 people) and a counter by the window with 4-5 stools to sit at. Staff were friendly.
Read moreWe ordered the vegan "Shepherd-less" pie with fries and vegan onion gravy. The pie was quite tasty and was filled with vegetables. The pastry crust was good and tasted like a "non-vegan" pastry crust.
The Shepherd-less pie is the only vegan pie option (there is another vegetarian option that comes with cheese).
Overall, good food and warm experience.
Pros: Tasty vegan pie, Outdoor patio along a nice pedestrian walkway, Quick service
Cons: Most of the menu is non-veg; 1 vegan pie option, Small space; not many places to sit in the winter.

Great comfort food - Edit
I order from here all the time, it really fills my need for this kind of comfort food, which Chinese food really isn't. My favorite is the Shepherd-less pie. It's nice to get the onion sauce, but really not necessary. I get the vegan sausages too. The sweet potato mash is ok but a little bland.
Read moreThe location is a really upscale pedestrian walkway, with a flowing water feature, when the weather is nice eating on the outdoor seating looks really pleasant. The interior is very small, not really a sit-down restaurant.
