good vegan Mexican food - Edit
Pia is in Chelsea Market and stands for Plants Instead of Animals. I like this concept! The menu is a little bit small (as it is a small stand in the market), but there are items marked gluten free and nut free on the menu. I had the rice bowl which was very good. I did think it was a little pricey ($17) for what it was though but I suppose with inflation, now everything is expensive. It wasn't the healthiest of options, but most of the time, Mexican food is not. However, I did not find it oily.

Delicious Mexican food - Edit
We tried the elote (steamed, charred corn with chili like salt, nutritional yeast and mayo) and the birria tacos. Both were amazing, especially the corn. There’s a nice selection of vegan natural wines too, though they’re on the pricy side.

Delicious! - Edit
PIA is so good! I’m not a burrito eater typically but I went for it here. Such distinct flavors; the rice was tasty, the beans cooked perfectly and all the fillings plus the cashew crema on top. One of those meals where you are sad when it ends. Also had a side of elote and a natural wine. Great selection of wines!

Bomb Vegan Mexican - Edit
I had the tamales and I can honestly say that they’re the best vegan meal I ate on my trip to NYC. So freaking good. I also got the quesadilla which was quite delish as well. Service sucked but the food made up for it.

Great option in Chelsea market - Edit
Got the birria quesadilla and it was decent but kind of pricey for what it is. Not too out of the ordinary for Chelsea market prices though. There are better comparable vegan Mexican places nearby (Jajaja) but this one’s fine if you want to eat at Chelsea market.

Loved it! - Edit
I brought my non vegan family including my picky eater nephew and we all loved it there. My nephew was really impressed with the tamale by the way. The food felt so fresh and delicious. We sat at the back and I could even have a small casual talk with the cook, a very nice guy.

Loved the food here! - Edit
This is all-vegan Mexican eatery located in the busy Chelsea Market, a type of food court. There are some stools to sit and eat, or you can grab an outdoor table. We had some tostadas and a burrito; it was all super-delicious.
Read moreOf the food we got: the burrito was very filling, the mushroom tostada was quite nice. The avocado tostada was also quite tasty--but on the small side, so we will probably skip it next time. But this place is a winner--go here for a meal, and then go to nearby Seed & Mill for dessert.

Vegan Mexican! - Edit
I've been searching for vegan tamales for a long, long time, and found them at Pia! Had the Tamale de Mole Poblano and also the Mushroom Tinga Tostada and both were delicious. Everything is fresh and they build it in front of you. Located in the Chelsea Market, enjoyed a very informative NYC vegan food conversation with Liz. Highly recommended!

Fresh and tasty vegan Mexican food in Chelsea Market - Edit
In the main concourse of Chelsea Market, Pia has a nice stall accessible right as you come in from the street. There is seating at "the bar" for about 8 people in total, you sit and order, and the food comes fairly quickly. We were able to get food at 8:50pm even though they closed at 9pm, so they are very good about letting you order until the very end!
Read moreThe food is prepared expertly, under of your eyes, from really good ingredients. It's so flavorful!
We got three of their items, as an appetizer on my way to Belse. I wish I had gotten more food here, and since it is close to the Whitney, we'll be back.
The tostadas were really tasty and fresh, but the hit was the tamale: Yummy corn, but the sauce with cacao was so unctuous and had a deep taste, it was really good.
Pros: Fresh, authentic food, Casual bar seating, quick service, Good cost-quality ratio

I found it to be the worst vegan burrito I’ve ever had. It was filled with bland rice and not much else and drowning in an unimpressive sauce. I’d rather go to Chipotle for a quick meal.
