Cheap thai food in historic old town - Edit
The food was very reasonably priced (rice with two toppings for 50 baht). Great location as well if you tour around the tourist highlights - close to both the palace and the Golden Mount but not right where all the hustle is.
Read moreWhen I was there they would also serve meat options... Small menu of only 5 different toppings. Tasty but nothing special.

Delicious local food - Edit
Had the noodle soup for 50 baht, came with homemade tofu and some mock meat. It was delicious and filling. The owner was very friendly and the place operates like many local restaurants whereby you order as you enter and get your food immediately.

Welcome spicy food lovers - Edit
This place is more a typical Thai stand in which you can order rice with toppings at choice with a normal price of 50 THB per dish. I was not sure as all is written in Thai, but I suspect that you can also order other type of cooked dishes if you not enjoy this type of meal.
Read moreI have to say, that all food on stand was spicy even for someone used to eat hot dishes (as it was my case). So if you enjoy spicy, this is your site.
The place is small as it has just one big table that suits around 6 people. Also the service is true that was a little bit deficient, as they are so slow when it comes to order.
Pros: Spicy (for those who love it), Cheap
Cons: Small eating area, Staff not very attentive

Great food and a great price - Edit
Have eaten from here a couple of times whilst in BKK and enjoyed everything we have tried. Lots of traditional curry dishes, mock meats and a pasta dish available most days

No service here. - Edit
2 stars because on my phone HappyCow won't allow lower rating. Came today and asked server if they have vegan meals, on Google translator I showed "no egg, no dairy" in Thai. The lady said yes but remained seated. I asked again, she said yes but still no service coming from her. I went to the counter and saw the cook sleeping/lying behind so I said OK and left. Obviously they are too tired to offer service here.

Cheap but nothing special - Edit
This is a somewhat more "authentic" Thai restaurant. What I mean by that is the prices are cheaper, there's limited selection, and food safety is non-existent.
Read moreIt is vegetarian but when I showed them my translated "vegan card" which says in Thai what I do not eat as a vegan, they were will to accommodate.
Since the food is cooked in advance and sitting out in the hot sum uncovered from the debris from the road, I opted to have them prepare something fresh. My dad got the vermicelli vegetable noodle soup which he said was good (once he added some of the condiments on the table) but it only had fake meat and no vegetables! I got the fries vermicelli noodles with vegetables. It was fine and tasted quite good once I added the condiments. I was a little concerned because when the noodles arrived it appeared that they had fried egg in them, despite me saying I'm vegan! What I think happened was the tofu which was in the dish broke apart slightly while being cooked and took on the appearance of egg. At least that's what I'm hoping!
Not a memorable meal but its quick and cheap near the palace. I would recommend Ethos and May Kaidee's over this place but if you're low on money then this is a good option.
Pros: inexpensive, location
Cons: lack of food safety

Phranakorn Vegetarian Food? - Edit
I think this is where i ate earlier. If so, it should be listed as a veg place. Two servings on rice 40 baht. Food was ok, not especially tasty, but fine.
Read moreSome other dishes made to order.
A cheaper option than nearby Arwy or whatever it's called, although i think this place closes earlier
Pros: reasonable value convenient for Grand Palace visit
Cons: Not open in evening

Vegetarian restaurant near tourist areas - Edit
Stopped in here after leaving the Grand Palace and Wad Pho. There's a "Vegetarian Restaurant" sign outside. Food was simple but good with a few options. Didn't see meat being served. Inside restaurant has a local feel.
