Simply good

Not labeling vegan on menu but if you mention you are they will accommodate. I always get the veggie pho. Always fresh

Pros: Price, Taste

Cons: Variety for vegans

Great food

While the menu doesn't label vegan options, the employees have always seemed knowledgeable about what items are vegan when I've ordered there. The food is very good and stands out from other places to me in a way that I think is best described by that it seems fresh/healthy/light (but still very tasty and filling), with less of a focus on fried food than many places, and lots of vegetables and tofu. I've been there several times and have had a number of dishes including the Bahn mi, pho, and some of the rolls. The last time I was there, even when dining in, they had us order online through tablets that are at the tables, which made it a little more difficult to ask questions and specify modification requests for the dishes, but the server came over to help answer our questions and guide us through inputting special requests through the ordering system.

Best pho

The pho is INCREDIBLE. I confirmed the veggie broth was vegan, and so were two of the rolls we got. The tofu is cooked to perfection, and the broth was like a warm hug. Highly recommend

Pros: Delicious vegan options

Solid Vietnamese

Lots of vegan options that are very clearly labeled on the menu. Also all items are fully customizable to individuals’ tastes which is convenient.

Fine

My meal here was good and they know what the word vegan is and could tell me what options were vegan. The base for each thing they make (I think) am be made vegan like a base rice dish, pho, banh mi, etc., and then you add items on, and there are vegan options for all. The problem is that makes the price higher than it seems as first (because without the add-on it would just be $8 for rice) and the portions (or at least my rice dish with tofu, broccoli and snow peas added on) are way too small. Teeny amount of tofu and the veggies. As soon as I finished I felt like I had just eaten the appetizer and was ready for my entree.

For a $13 at a simple restaurant in Albany, I would expect to feel full.

I just got the rice dish so it I were to go back I would hope for a bigger portion getting something else, get something else with it, or plan to eat something else before or after.

Best pho in the area

When comparing pho yum to the other restaurant in the area that has pho (tamarind Thai cuisine) there is no comparison. Not too salty, packed with herbs and flavor, and huge portions. Very vegan friendly

Pros: Vegan pho

We love pho yum, it's our regular place to go out to eat. But Van's also had very nice pho with lots of veggies.

Vegan pho

You can get veggie broth as an option for their pho. All other menu categories all have a veggie only or tofu as the protein. Rice, noodles, and banh mi sandwiches are the other main menu categories. My only complaint is they don't give you much tofu.

If you are a member of the Capital Region Vegan Network, Pho Yum has a discount code for online orders for members.
