I had the vegan lasagne which was delicious, and they made me a vegan hot chocolate for dessert.

Delicious vegan options 🌱 - Edit
We booked a table having heard how popular Petronella is. So glad we did… there were some tasty looking vegan options to choose from the menu. Between us we had the satay cauliflower, vegetable lasagne and nut roast. All were delicious. So much flavour. The staff were friendly and welcoming, very knowledgable about their menu and even accommodated our request to take away some desert. The vegan apple slice was amazing!!

Petronella is such a part of Kilkenny lore which is reason enough to go there. The vegan menu is quite diverse, the staff is very friendly. I was so happy with the food, I had an Early Bird and tried bruschetta and the vegan lasagne, which I loved! Can’t wait to go there again. Also the dessert was perfect 👌

Great restaurant in the heart of Kilkenny - Edit
Went here because of the reviews on HappyCow and it did not fail to impress. Great selection of vegan options. Portions are quite big but really tasty. I could hear the waitress tell diners about the vegan/vegetarian menu which was great. Frank the owner was very nice and friendly even on the phone for booking beforehand. Will definitely visit again when in Kilkenny.

So happy I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. It is located down a nice little pedestrian alley way which has so much charm and character. As you enter the restaurant you enter into a small cozy lobby and greeted with a friendly smile. They then proceed to take you to the second floor where the quaint dinning room is. It’s the perfect size - intimated. As you look around the room you can just see the history in the old stones and the exposed rafter beams which are original to the building.

One of the best vegan lasagnas I have tasted in a restaurant. Good balance of everything. For desert I tried the sticky toffee pudding and a lovely chocolate cake with a warm chocolatey centre. Both were very tasty. And they pour a great pint of Guinness as well.
Really enjoyed my experience. Great drinks, fantastic food, nice presentations, great service and a cozy, intimate dining experience in a beautiful historical house.

We came for dinner, there was a deal about start-main-desert. We took the only vegan start option- avocado toast- was very good. We took the lasagna it came with delishes fries and salad.

First of all, the place is super cozy, try to get one of the in front of the window tables upstairs. Second, I was on a budget but still the lady in my hostel recommended Petronella as a vegan meal option for me, I went there and the price was cheaper than the menu exposed outside restaurant. I ordered lentils and nut loaf w salad and fried potatoes, I’m known for eating a lot but still I had to ask to bring half home cause I couldnt finish, it was delicious and I really appreciate places where they have more than burguers or pizzas as vegan options😄

We usually prefer to go to places that are solely vegan - if possible - but Petronella has excellent reviews and we were with an omni friend. We weren’t disappointed - there was plenty of choice and we were all really pleased with our meals. I had the vegan lasagne (beautifully done and chips to die for) and my partner had the Jaipur curry - “deeply tasty and gently spicy” was his report. The guy in charge was so friendly and helpful; indeed all the staff were great.

Got there at 19:25, just in time to get early bird special 17-19:30. Got avocado toast app, lentil/nut loaf main, and berry crumble dessert. All were delicious and the presentation was pretty.

Had a great vegan meal here, lots to choose from! Had chickpea escalope with a superfood salad which was delicious. Could have also picked a lasagna or nut roast. The vegan dessert selection was really impressive, had 4 to choose from and got a chocolate fondant filled with melted chocolate. It was incredible. Would definitely come back for more great vegan food!

The atmosphere of this restaurant is absolutely lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful and the vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. The menu doesn’t list non-dairy milks, but they do have them (at least soy milk).

I’ve eaten in here three times. Had the chickpea croquettes, the vegan lasagne and the nutloaf. All were delicious. They have vegan desserts too. The manager /owner is very kind and friendly. All the staff are very helpful. I wished they opened Sundays!
