Lovely meal - Edit
A separate vegan menu with several choices. My husband had the nut roast which was a large portion and very tasty, with vegetables, sauteed potatoes and gravy. I had the a Mediterranean salad which was lovely. Great to have dessert options also, the summer pudding was lovely.

Disappointed - Edit
The link with hunting is concerning. I think fox hunting is barbaric.

A pleasant Surprise in the Middle of Nowhere. - Edit
This pub is a lovely establishment with a cozy country seating area. The menus were clear and easy to read. Vegan menu was separated from the normal menu. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to.
Read moreThe starter I had was the "Vegan Mediterranean Platter with cibbettin bread". It was a lovely size with plenty to choose from. Very flavorful especially the tomatoes.
As for the main I had the Vegetable Chickpea Curry. It had a very luxurious portion size with a nice curry to rice proportion. Unfortunately for my personal tatse it wasn't very spicy and it more resembled that of a very nice Chilli.
For desert I had to order with my main as they needed time to prepare, however it was well worth it.
I had the "Chocolate & Rum Truffle Torte with Mango Sorbet" it was very rich and tasty and it was a very large slice too so there was no complaints.
Overall the restaurant had a very quick and friendly service with large portions with a nice selection of both vegan and vegetarian food for the so called middle of nowhere.
I would recommend you book as when leaving at 14:20 it was packed full of people. Dogs are also welcomed too.

Excellent! - Edit
Considering this pub is located in rural Devon, surrounded by farmland and has plenty on the menu for the omnivorous, the quality and range of their vegan options is very welcoming. We frequently patronise this place and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. If you are a fan of desserts, be prepared to order with your starter and main, as some of the desserts are kept frozen and need time to defrost, but don't let that put you off - they're worth it. It's very refreshing to see something more interesting than sorbet, fruit salad or vegan vanilla ice-cream on the dessert menu! We've been here so often, we'd welcome some variety in the choices, but it's all delicious, so we can't complain! Be warned: it's a very popular pub, I'd strongly recommend booking.

Well worth a visit - Edit
Very accommodating to vegans with a nice selection of dishes on the vegan menu. Delicious food. We had olives and garlic bread, nut roast and sweet potato, chilli and coriander fritters with vegetables and new potatoes and raspberry “cheese”cake and a snickers tart. Faultless. We will definitely be back.

Delicious!! - Edit
several vegan options, big portion size- great value for money.
Read morestaff were lovely and wanted feedback on vegan options and said their chefs loved creating new vegan dishes more than the regular non- vegan dishes
for dessert we had a snickers cheesecake and a berry one too, both of which were delicious but you did have to preorder the dessert as they had to defrost them (due to lack of demand) but this didn’t make them any less amazing
Pros: whole separate vegan menu , lovely staff , amazing desserts
Cons: wasn’t a problem, but had to preorder dessert

Tasty and substantial - Edit
The portion sizes are good! Maybe even a bit too large but at least you’re getting your moneys worth. Surprised by the vegan options for dessert, especially for a pub! I tried the snickers cheesecake and it was really good; not too sweet.

Lovely old pub serving vegan food - Edit
We visited this pub for a Sunday lunchtime, and having warned them in advance were offered a vegan menu with 4 starters, 5 mains, and 3 sweets.
Read moreThe options were interesting, and not the unimaginative meals sometimes offered - including meringue made with chick-pea water for sweet!
The staff were very helpful, and the food very nice and well presented.
The pub is a lovely old rural stone-built building on the edge of Dartmoor, with a number of cozy small and medium sized rooms.
We really enjoyed our meal there, and hope others will.
Pros: Very good food, Good choice of vegan options, Lovely old pub
Cons: Omnivorous - also serves meat
