Serves meat, vegan options available. Chinese restaurant offering several dishes that can be made vegan by using tofu in place of meat. Specify vegan when ordering. Open Mon-Thu 11:00am-10:00pm, Fri-Sat 11:00am-10:30pm, Sun 11:00am-10:00pm.
Good Chinese food, variety of veg options, but expensive - Edit
Owner is very nice and understands what vegan means, will accommodate as much as possible. If they are busy, it is best to just order off the menu.
Miso soup is vegan, thom yum soup can be made vegan upon request. There is a vegetarian section with all vegan options. Vegetarian sushi is available. Tofu can be subbed for meat in any dish.
I recommend the red curry vegetables, tofu country style, and the AAC and sweet potato rolls. Lunch Roll special is good value, with 2 or 3 sushi rolls and miso soup. Lunches also include a house cabbage salad appetizer which is delicious.
Not on the menu but always available, per the owner: I also recommend the cold mala tofu skin- a divine dish of shredded tofu, shredded green onions, hot peppers, and a szechuan pepper dressing. The cold mala sesame noodles are also worth trying, although I think they require something else to go with them, like a vegetable dish or ask to add veggies to it.
Expensive for portion size, but Peony offers some things you cannot get elsewhere in Newark. Once again, if you like spicy you will generally be out of luck. The exception to this is the mala tofu skin, which is very pleasantly spicy if you ask for it not to be dialed down.

Pros: It exists in an otherwise desolate food landscape, Variety of options
Cons: Not the best, not the worst, Expensive
