Tasty Food, Vegan Labelling Could be Improved!

So, the food at Penygroes Tandoori is really nice. They only offer takeaways, and orders can be placed online or on the phone. I had the Vegan Jalfrezi, Chana Massala, Chapati Bread, Vegan Mushroom Fried Rice, and Mango Chutney. The food smelled amazing upon collecting it, and the portions were decent, especially considering the price. The food was really enjoyable as everything was really tasty and I was especially impressed with the Mushroom fried rice! However, due to confusing vegan labelling on Penygroes Tandoori's menu, I can not give them a 4 star rating.

On the menu, there is a vegan section, which is great to see. However, I am a bit baffled by the Rajasthani Mix Bhaji. Every dish on the menu has their ingredients listed and under this item in the vegan section 'cottage cheese' is listed as an ingredient and it is not stated if they are using some sort of vegan cottage cheese. This is really worrying not only from a vegan perspective but also from allergen one too. This is not the only way the menu let's Penygroes Tandoori down. In the other sections on the menu, such as the Starters and Sundaries, the dishes, which are vegan are not listed as such. This means when navigating the menu, I felt uncertain what was vegan, what wasn't vegan, and what could be done vegan. The guy on the phone was knowledgeable and did help put my mind at ease, but things would be far simpler if they updated the menu to highlight how vegan friendly they are!

Pros: Nice Food, Vegan Section on Menu, Affordable Prices

Cons: Unclear Vegan Labelling , Potential Non-Vegan Options in Vegan Section

Helpful staff

I called up before to see what kind of vegan options they have. The man who answered the phone was so helpful and gave lots of suggestions. I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely use here again.

Pros: Very tasty, vegetable curries are pretty cheap

Cons: No sit in option because it's a takeaway
