Temporary location not as good - Edit
During renovation of their beautiful and serene atrium location they’re located in a shop in the same building, so not as appealing. Food comforting and delicious as before, though. Still a good-feeling experience.

Great Veggie break from the ByWard hustle bustle - Edit
As of 9/2023 under construction and no garden, but still has a peaceful atmosphere with calming music and great food with good sized portions. Mostly vegan choices. Were great about accommodating my potato allergy, which can be hard in a mostly gluten free restaurant. I was just visiting the are and wanted to try it and was happy I did! People walked in and walked by, I think due to the construction and I worry that they will go out of business if people don't stop. It is hard to find and doesn't look very inviting right now. Go show them some love and you will be rewarded with some great food!

Hidden gem in the Byward Market - Edit
This is one of my favorite spots in Ottawa, definitely top 3.
Read moreFood is delicious and healthy, the owner is a sweetheart. I was very happy to see that they expanded their menu and the food has gotten even better, not worse, after the pandemic.
To find it, walk into 47 Clarence, it's inside the building. Despite being right in the middle of it, Peace Garden is isolated from the crowded hell that is the Byward Market. Very peaceful atmosphere.

Food packed with flavour and people filled with kindness - Edit
Kind and peaceful space within the atrium of an office building (I believe). Over the 30 years they've been there they’ve made it an inviting space for all by growing lots of plants. Attracted friendly individuals at this time of morning as well as a larger groups. I was lucky enough to get a tiny bit of cake and be offered a piece of fruit as part of their understated birthday celebration. You enter through corporate doors from the street but don’t be put off by that! I came looking for a later breakfast but the menu is for main dishes and a few sweet options from memory. I have no regrets ordering the curry as it was delicious and of a size which sustained me through a long afternoon at the Museum of History😄Enjoyed the beans used for the espresso too. I believe this was around $23 with a tip as always in Canada!

Delicious Indian vegan food - Edit
Delicious plant-based Indian food! Inconspicuous and unassuming, it truly feels like a "peace garden" in the heart of Ottawa. Hearty and tasty food, huge portions for decent prices, labelled vegan options. Loved it!

Lovely little place with tons of vegan options - Edit
The people here make it extra lovely, and the food was perfect. We had a rice and daal bowl and a samosa platter, and both were substantial and delicious. The atmosphere was cute and lovely- in the atrium or an airy building. We’re from out of town but would come again in a heartbeat. Recommend!!

Tasty, delicious food - Edit
This is small but homely place with vegan/vegetarian dishes. They have handful option but all of them are pretty appealing. The quality and taste of the food is great. I ordered a sweet potato burger platter which was a good size main course. It had burger and side salad with tamari mayo. Definitely a place I’d visit again if I am in Ottawa. Service was great and fast which was just the cherry on the top.

Pleasant setting, good food - Edit
Hard to find with the Happycow map, which shows the address as Clarence Street, but I persevered (because of the good Happycow reviews), and I walked along Parent Street and found an entrance on the other side of the building (Murray Street), where a small sandwich-board sign indicated that Peace Garden was *inside* the building. In fact, it sits in the atrium/lobby of the office building, complete with greenery and light streaming in from above. The menu has many vegan or veganizable items, including a soup of the day. Some gluten-free items. Samosas, bowl meals, salads, etc. I enjoyed the Glory Bowl. Dessert squares and other treats. Chilled and frozen items to take away. It was very busy at 1 pm on a summer Thursday, and it’s best to not be in a hurry. It’s a small kitchen and just two staff. The eatery is run by the Sri Chinmoy organization, and there is literature available about meditation. Also for sale are woven baskets, cards, etc.

Delicious curry dinner in a very nice atmosphere - Edit
We ate here on Mon. August 24th after cycling around Ottawa for a couple of hours. As tourists, we did not know what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. We both had the same eggplant curry special for dinner at 7 pm, and found it truly tasty. You could tell that it was carefully prepared, spiced and cooked perfectly. There was also nice brown rice and a very delicious yellow dal in the generously sized bowl.

Peace-Garden is the perfect name for this restaurant. As you enter, the decor with lots of plants makes you feel in an oasis of peace. The food is healthy and fresh. They have a standard menu and a special menu of the day. I had the glory bowl which was a special and it was delicious. Also everything that is vegan is clearly marked.

For my taste and healthy food consideration it was OK. I asked for a vegan meal and got curry with paneer, so be careful! It’s a small cafe but it felt like everything is all over the place..
