People Animal Welfare Society (Non for Profit)
One stop shop for travellers!!
Absolutely tremendous place!! Vegan Café!! Raw & cooked!!
They help people as well and aren’t just business. For e.g. they have a building next door where the temporary house those in need and, for anyone who may not be able to afford the full cost of a hot or raw meal (which is very cheap already) then they will work something out so that you can eat!
A particular female staff member (won’t name names) is particularly knowledgeable and great to talk with on a vast range of topics! All staff members are helpful and will make time for any questions or will get someone who can elaborate more so.
You don’t even have to buy anything as it is a “non-for-profit” organisation – just walk in and ask to speak to someone for some help &/ advice about “ how to start” “where to shop” “experience”, the list goes on. I haven’t even been Vegan/Fruitarian for 6 months yet and, the help they have given is tremendous!
It is not fine dining by any means, BUT, the cooked and raw food is delicious! Raw cakes, (y) (a thumbs up!) ;)
They have a small supermarket range of products! A great place to start!
Very good value hot food and a wide range of vegan goods. They have a shop at the back of the restaurant which sells makeup, food, cleaning products, clothing etc. a must stop for any vegan.
I've known about PAWS for sometime and they sometimes have their PAWS van at festivals, offering decent veggie junk food like hot dogs, burgers etc. PAWS is in easy walking distance from the Wellington Street train station and the City centre.
We went to their restaurant on a Friday night, and it has an informal atmosphere due to it's dual status as a community centre of sorts. The staff seemed a little vague but helpful as they could be- but from what I understand they are volunteers? I had a raw plate selection which was pretty satisfying, and my friend had the veggie burger, which was his first foray into vegan cheese.
The food was very delicious and filling, and good value. There is a shop within, with just about everything a vegan could want- including their very well stocked chocolate selection.
Don't be put off by the location or the unusual frontage, this is a must-stop shop for vegheads in Perth.
On a recent trip to Perth I stayed in the suburb of Northbridge (directly north of the CBD, many hostels located here). Just around the corner from my accommodation was PAWS.
This cafe offers a range of hot foods each day, as well as raw food. I had a small mixed plate of hot foods (curries, etc) for just $7 - quite a large serve. I think the large was $12.
Also had an amazing coconut smoothie and on my second visit a green juice. Both were made fresh and delicious.
The cafe is also a shop where you can find a wide range of vegan cosmetics, foods, etc. As well as that there's an organic fruit and veg market held on weekends.
Staff were nice.
Not really a cafe atmosphere, as the seating was large business type tables. But don't let that put you off - this place is really great! Loved it.
