Different vegan options for burgers

There are 3 different vegan burgers as they said to me. Avocado burger, Vegan burger and Hazelnut burger(?). The meat texture is good. The only odd thing that there are no mark for vegan options in the menu.

Decent trendy burger shop

Right when I came in it was crowded, despite the rest of the town not being all too busy. Had high hopes going in. They offer a lot of vegetarian burgers and I could choose between a few vegan ones, opted for beans and tomato which I enjoyed. No vegan mayo (boo hiss) and the fries were extremely average. Still, as a burger afficionado you could do a lot worse.

Pros: Good vegan burger, Friendly personnel despite crowd

Cons: Not a lot of choice, Very busy

Their place in Ghent: Very tasty but ask specifically for vegan bread

UPDATE

Before I became a vegan, I used to always go to this place for my vegetarian burgers. Especially their Spicy Javan veggie burger is a MUST to try for any vegetarians. Now that I'm a vegan, and still living in the area, I do go there once every two or three weeks for a vegan burger, with vegan bread.

After inquiring via email if they have vegan burgers, they said yes, 2 vegan options, namely a four seasons and a hazelnut burger, which was already a downer for me because as a vegan I specifically like spicy food, which they don't have in a vegan formula (update: they now have a 3rd - cauliflower quinoa - burger). Moreover, we have had some instances where both me and my non-vegan boyfriend went to the place to ask for a vegan burger and received instead something vegetarian.

A couple of tips for any vegan newbies here:
- Their staff does not seem to be aware of what is and what is not vegan. Some of them know some things, some of them have no clue. This is confusing and it means that every time you go there, you need to ask a number of questions about the food before being able to order something vegan. It also means that there's a huge possibility that their knowledge does not reach further than milk powder and it's possible they don't have a clue about casein, whey, natural aroma's and certain E-numbers that aren't vegan.
- Their fries are fried in plant-based oil, yet the food as a whole is made on the same stove as the animal food.
- On Ubereats you can order all their vegan dishes in a separate section - very useful!
- To my knowledge no vegan sauce for the fries.
- Lastly, some of their staff have claimed that they have a vegan mayo sauce, and others have claimed it is not vegan, so there you go. Full ambiguity.

All in all this place has some working points for vegan food, but I must say that I am still very much in love with the cooking and the plant-based burgers are delicious there.

Their biggest PLUS in my opinion is that they learn very quickly; in the last year they went from a vegan newbie place to a rather vegan-friendly place with several improvements for vegans across the year. To me it seems that they keep their customers' feedback in mind, which is a mindset that is not easy to find in business owners.

Pros: They evolve according to customers' feedback, Many vegetarian options and 3 vegan options, Via Ubereats they have a "vegan dishes"-section

Cons: Staff is not always aware of vegan criteria, No vegan mayo sauce for fries

Good food but ask vegan or it will not be vegan

I love the quinoa burger there but you have to ask the vegan version or it will have non-vegan sauce. Unfortunatly, I found this out because the first time I asked what the vegan option were and then I got it vegan. But the second time I asked the same burger and they added the non-vegan sauce.

Not for hardcore vegans.

Upon entrance I asked about the vegan options. They told me I had two, I chose the spinach burger.
Had fries with it and a beverage.
The interior is funky and has nice accents. There’s place to sit right in front but there is also a room in the back. The staff (one girl) was friendly and didn’t have to think to declare the vegan options. She suggested a vegan sauce with raisins instead of regular ketchup to go with the fries.

Music choice was ok. Not shabby, not too hip either. Cutlery is on the table, so are napkins and pepper & salt. After you ordered at the counter, you can take a seat and they will bring your food to your table. Only one toilet, there’s a hallway behind the room in the back, the toilet is on the other side of that.

THE FOOD.
I enjoyed the burger. The spinach had a good taste, the burger was fried. The fries were a bit heavy, making me not sure they are backed in oil. I did not ask to check. The sauce provided with the fries was a good. A bit on the sweet side, so if you’re not into that better to skip.

Seeing that they were not surprised for me to ask for vegan options and the swift reply they had to the question, I assume they know what vegan means and do not bake their fries in fat or use non-vegan buns.
They do however, cook the vegan option on te same stove/ use the same fryer, as they use for the meat options. Also, seeing they had a large list of vegetarian options, I think it’s a shame they only offer two vegan options.

All in all a decent place if you need a quick bite and fancy a burger in a funky setting.

Pros: Funky setting, Good price/value ratio

Cons: Few vegan options, No meatfree tools, Not sure about buns or fries

Vegans stay away

This place is cool and trendy and indeed offers ten-or-so "vegetarian" options. However, I'm really not sure whether this food boutique deserves its place in Happy Cow.
I had the spinach burger with fries the other day, and watched a bunch of raw spinach being tossed on the meat-filled frying plate, and a ready-made 'burger' of unspecified origin dumped in a deep-fryer used for other meat products as well. The final burger was a horribly greasy affair. I'm not a purist but I found the mix of vegetarian/vegan options frying with meat products on the same fryer plate not very appetizing. Very disappointing.

Pros: offers vegan/vegetarian options, trendy/young atmosphere

Cons: veg options mixed with meat during preparation

Big Fan

These hamburger restaurants have evolved into a "chain'
you can find Mike's boutique or Andy's boutique all over Belgium
It was in the city of Kortrijk the first hamburgerrestaurant who delivered great quality vegi burgers in an overwhelming choice (also meat burgers)
The sauces are the real kicker here! fresh made sauces with unique tasty flavours
Every week they have suggestions, which you can ask the vegetarian way

Vegan Hazelnut burger

Went there for lunch and got the Hazelnut burger with chips. Was great! Not sure if there is any other vegan options. There is a place in Ghent called Tasty world that does one too however this was better.

Super tasty!

Vegan hazelnut burger was DELICIOUS! There's a place nearby my home that uses the same burgers but Paul's Food Boutique's was better with the addition of their super tasty bun and vegetable choices. They have 4 vegan burgers available. Staff was friendly and food was fast.

Pros: tasty food, fast, friendly
