"Kosher, not vegan"

I stopped by today and saw nothing that was labeled as vegan. There were a couple of focaccia whose ingredients were listed, and as far I could tell, they were vegan. However, when I asked to make sure, the person at the counter said "the food here is kosher, not vegan."

To be sure, the staff person might have been confused. But this suggests that he was not trained properly in this regard by the management, who don't seem to place any priority on vegan food. You could always just judge for yourself whether the food is vegan--but that is true for any eatery in NYC. However, a place listed on HappyCow should be held to a different standard. If you want to be more sure of the food you order, there are other places very nearby--including a bunch not listed on HappyCow-- that offer clearly listed vegan baked good, such a Pain Quotidien and Birch Coffee (the latter of which does not change extra for plant milk).

Pros: Some of the food seems as if it might be vegan

Cons: Nothing listed as vegan,, the staff did not confirm if the food is vegan
