Indian Delights

Very welcoming restaurant with many dishes that are or can be made vegan.

We shared a Bombay Aloo, Chana Masala, vegetable Dhanzak and vegetable Rogan Josh, with rice and chapatis.

All of our dishes were nicely spiced and flavourful, with the sides our favourites, but the Rogan Josh just needed a little bit more time to cook out all the spices. Still tasty though.

The naans and desserts are not vegan, as expected and in total we spent just under £45 in cash due to an online issue.

Pros: Tasty food, Staff, Ambience

There’s always been an “online issue” there for years now 😝

Depends on their perception of ‘recent’. I’d say 24 years it’s always been cash payment in there 🤣. Rogan Josh for me next time, looks excellent. I always tend to get a Madras

Holiday Curry Night

Menu does not mention vegan. However, just ask the waiter and they can adjust nearly all the dishes.
I had a vegetable bhuna. For me it was a bit hot but that’s only because I make milder ones at home. Still very nice though. Oh, sorry to mention but no vegan Naan.
Mad really because you can buy them in supermarkets.

Pros: Good choice compared to some places, Just ask and they will adapt the dishes for you, Good value

Good but no starters

The menu was quite vegan friendly. Everything is cooked with veg oil and not ghee so all of the veg curries are vegan apart from the obvious korma etc. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Only downside was that there were no vegan starters as the bhajis contained egg.

A comfortable shot for 4

Good to see this place on Happy Cow. Certainly the most renowned Indian restaurant in Whitby. I’ve always had good dining and take-away experiences here. Goth weekend nights are wonderful when the place always accommodates late night walk ins. Literally every curry can be made as vegan here. I usually go for the Madras but I’ve probably tried them all apart from the Korma. The pickles and popadoms are highly recommended to begin with, just replace the raita with something else as vegan.

Pros: good atmosphere, vegan options, plush interior

Tasty and affordable

A wide selection of curries which can be served with vegetables. The staff are knowledgeable and can tell you which it's possible to make vegan. Unfortunate none of the breads are vegan, but I was full after a sag aloo and a rice shared with my wife. She had the palak paneer - there are also plenty of choices for vegetarians. Ambience was pleasant and the staff were friendly. They squeezed is in even though we hadn't booked.
