Just what you need at the beach

We were at Scarborough beach and wanted traditional fat chips and mushy peas.

Most places fried in the same oil as the fish. But Papa's explained they fried in vegetable oil and separately to everything else.

The staff were super friendly and knew most details about how the food was cooked. And when I asked if their tofu had egg in the batter, they asked the chef who immediately confirmed it didnt.

Excellent chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. And lovely staff.

Pros: Vegan friendly , Friendly and knowledgeable staff, Good options

Papa Don't Preach

We each had a portion of chips, with curry sauce, which were good but I wouldnt say they were Britain's best!

Curry sauce was ok but menu is very limited.

Pros: Good chips

Cons: Limited choice

No real vegan options

I asked what vegan options they do they said their chips are cooked in veg oil.
I asked what the "tofish" was, they told me cooked on the same grill as their fish so no options. Disappointed as fancied a chippy

Cons: No real vegan options

Lovely chips.

Had chips and mushy peas as the man serving said there were no vegan main dishes there. Might have been just today though? All cooked in vegetable oil.

Nothing special here.

The only tasty thing here was the Potato & sage & onion stuffing Pattie, no other vegan options apart from the chips which were OK. No toilets, cleanliness could be improved. Lots of young people working here, lost our order. Could definitely be improved upon.

Pros: Potato & sage & onion stuffing Pattie

Cons: One vegan option other than chips., Cleanliness , Service

Chips

I was just looking for somewhere I could have chips by the sea - not cooked in beef dripping. This place uses vegetable oil and I enjoyed the chips.

Pros: Cooked in vegetable oil

Cons: Not fantastic

Decent chips

Just had the chips. I see that they also had a mushroom and spinach pie, but didn’t manage to check if it was vegan.
