Good for a quick bite at the harbour

I had time to kill after getting off the ferry and checking into my hotel. Papa Joe had a vegan falafel wrap, fries, and a bottled water for 11€, how can you go wrong? Everything was tasty and quick with good service.

Cheap fast food

Papa Joe's falafel dishes are good fast food. I always grab a bite when a ship arrive to harbor

Nice cost and tasty food. Not so much vegan options, but still good.

falafel wrap is quite fine!

I ordered the falafel wrap, and it was of good quality, with the falafel having a crunchy exterior while being warm and moist on the inside. It’s located in a cozy little spot, and costs what I imagine is a standard price. Somehow it was not as filling as hoped - I could’ve eaten two! Perhaps it was just me being quite hungry...

Good falafels

I have had my best falafels and falafel wrap there, though the quality varies and sometimes they are just average. The wrap is a bit overlapped and has too much dough. Good place to buy take-away but for staying there the atmosphere is rather poor. The falafel wrap includes pickles which is exactly after my taste. You can buy hummus and dolmas take-away as well. Good prices. Comfortable location for those who are near harbour. City center is nearby too.

Pros: Good prices

Cons: Poor atmosphere

Good falafel - the rest is another story

We ordered the falafel pita and the falafel salad vegan. First of all, they had two signs with the menu with different prices. The one at the counter was the actual one with higher prices. Why hadn't they taken the old one down then?
My boyfriend wanted hummus to his salad, but they couldn't just put it on the plate, but gave him a separate box with hummus and had to pay for it by weight. I wanted hummus in my pita as well.
When we received our food they had put some white dressing on it which was made from dairy, even though we expressed it to be vegan. The guy who took our order said sorry, and we got a new pita and salad right away. But no hummus in my pita. The pitabread was dry and falling apart, and the tomatoes grainy.
There might have been some communication problem between the guy at the counter and the woman making our food. Also when she handed us our food the first time, she had wrapped it up like we were having it as take away, even though we said that we would like to eat there. Both times when she served us our food she seemed angry and annoyed which made us feel not very welcome.
The two stars are only for the falafel in itself, which was pretty good and crispy, and also for the service of giving us new food right away. Otherwise there is nothing positive to say really...

Pros:

Cons: Expensive compared to the quality

Nice :)

I ordered the vegan falafel with pita bread and it was pretty good. The falafels were really crunchy! There aren’t many seats or tables since it’s in a corner of a market place.

Pros: Good falafels

Cons: Only few tables

Best falafel I've ever had!

Papa Joe is a small but cozy food bar which has a couple of tables and a take-away option.

The location is in the harbour area, so it is a great place for those who are on a cruise.

Pros: Wonderful falafel, Very friendly staff, Cheap prices

Papa Joe's

Papa Joe's (formerly Kebab King) is located off the beaten track INSIDE an up-market supermarket which is opposite the large Sadama Market. Run by a friendly husband & wife team.
I had a hot, tasty falafel wrapped in tin foil. They have no fresh juice, just the usual selection of tea, coffee & carton 'concentrate juices'.
Seating for just 5 people but as it's opposite an exit/entry door this isn't recommended in winter!

Pros: Friendly service, Tasty food, Falafels!

Cons: Location, Lack of choice, No real juice
