Ask for Casado Vegano (not on menu)

If you're in the San Isidro de El General area and want a tasty vegan meal, just ask the kind ladies behind the counter for 'Casado Vegano de Roberto,' and they will male you the casado I always order: arroz y frijoles negros, verduras, calabaza, y plantain (rice and black beans, steamed veggies, riced squash, and sweet plantains).

This roadside panadería is a few steps above a normal soda as their focus is artisanal bread. That said, I was unable to try any of their bread because all that they had available contained milk, but hopefully that won't always be the case.

The clean, comfortable outdoor tables at Pan de Lucky are shaded from the sun most hours, and provide a relaxing place to enjoy a meat-free meal at a place well-supported by local ticos.

Pros: Chef's willingness to accomodate vegan needs, Friendly staff, Clean, pleasant outdoor cafe and surroundings

Cons: No vegan-non-dairy breads (yet), No vegan entrees on menu (yet)
