Vegetarian Indian Restaurant - Edit
EDITED TO ADD: Been here at least three times now and overall I don't like this restaurant. Aside from the onion bhajis, I have yet to particularly enjoy my food and I find the menu very confusing whether certain items are vegan or not. However my main issue is with the service which is generally very slow (last time my main wasn't brought out until an hour and a half after arriving) and the waiters tend to question your choices, which is extremely off-putting, while the music is so loud that neither of you can hear each other properly. In its favour I will say that most of the people who have dined with me have loved their meals.
Read moreHave eaten here twice now, it is pretty good, quite a lot on the menu though it is only vegetarian and not vegan. I find the music too loud so I can't always hear what the waiting staff are saying but I have that problem at a lot of restaurants so it probably isn't up unusually loud. If you order the naan sharer be warned it is a LOT of naan. Went with friends who didn't order the vegan option so we couldn't even help them finish it. Last time we visited, there was a large family booking and the waiter offered to move us to a quieter spot out of consideration. It was during veganuary when they had an offer on and we didn't even notice that they forgot to deduct the discount from our bill - they caught the mistake and corrected it.

Underwhelming - Edit
Padharo has several vegetarian and vegan options. The food quality was not up to scratch for the price. The black daal was watery, kaju paneer had very little paneer, chilly paneer was not a standard Indo-Chinede chilly paneer but more of a slapdash stir fry. The service was atrocious, slow, and lacking. Even though we had a booking we were not given a good table. The ambience was noisy, music choice was either dull or overpoweringly loud.

Cons: Service was slow and rude, Daal was watery, Chilly paneer was not what we expected

Baboo Ji’s got competition - Edit
Huge menu with most dishes available vegan, and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried so far. If I’m getting Indian food in Southampton, I’m either going here or Baboo Ji! It’s worth checking their social media before you visit as they occasionally have generous offers on.

Top food - Edit
Amazing find in the heart of Southampton. Absolutely delicious food and fantastic for vegan and gluten free with very clear labelling and knowledgeable staff. Would deffo come back if in the area. Only negative was some things were very spicy and not labelled as such (mushroom rice, and some of the nibbles).

Very tasty meal - Edit
Met a friend for dinner here tonight and we shared a selection of dishes; masala dosa, makani Dahl, a chick'n dish and rice. It was all fresh and delicious, especially the dosa, and seemed reasonably priced. Service was good, staff friendly.

Amazing vegan options - Edit
The food here was absolutely delicious! I had the vegan dosa which was one of the best dosas I’ve tried. My friend who is from India said it was one of the best she had had in the Uk. Vegan options are clearly listed on the menu. I’m definitely going back because there’s so many more dishes I want to try 😍

We had a really lovely dinner here. The sharing platter for starters was exceptional! The only complaint would be that the restaurant was SO COLD! We ate with our coats on!

We had the house chaat, chick'n bites, gunpowder potatoes, chick'n butter masala, cheesy masala dosa and cheesy naan bread (all vegan). All great. The chick'n dishes were my favourite. Nice venue and staff, will visit again.

Wonderful - Edit
The menu is a great size with loads of r get eat options. It very clearly marks vegan and gluten free and most things are vegan or have a vegan option.
Read moreThe staff are really lovely and will happily recommend options for you.
The food itself is delicious and a great price. I reccommend ordering a bunch of street food options and nibbles and just trying loads of bits. Most dishes are 3-5 pieces so easy to share and surprisingly filling. If you have leftovers you can ask for a container and take them home too.
Definitely worth a visit!
Pros: Lots of options, Delicious food, Friendly staff
