So good! - Edit
Delicious and (according to my Boricua partner) authentically PR food. They only do to-go orders right now but don’t let that stop you- the food is too good to pass up.

Delicious and plentiful Puerto Rican food - Edit
A separate multi-page vegan menu is available, featuring vegan versions of all the classics. We ordered several items, highlights were the Ropa Vieja, the steak and the arepas. Yes the location is not great and it's take out only, but it's worth it! (Also it might look pricey but the portions are generous)

A complete gem - Edit
This restaurant is a complete gem and I wish it was closer to me. I decided to come check this place out after hearing good things about it. I stepped in and was greeted by the staff. I asked what was recommended and was recommended ropa vieja. I ordered that, along with arancini and a soursop juice.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful experience, delicious food. - Edit
If I could on this platform, I would give this restaurant five stars. The women working here when I went in caught on that I was vegan and, without my even asking, assured me of the great lengths they go to avoid cross contamination, right down to the spices. Every vegan item is cooked in a separate area and she explained there is even a separate cook. Not only are they extremely careful, but they're super proud of their food. As they should be. One of the women, while the other was in the back, patiently explained items throughout the menu, the processes, and said to me and my friend, "I really hope you love your food."
Read moreThere is an entire separate vegan menu. And it's not the run-of-the-mill token sympathy dish present at many restaurants. The food is inspired, different. Moreover, it's beautiful. They care deeply about the presentation. In fact, my friend, who does eat meat, and I walked in and it turned out that there was an accident with part of my order -- it was a potato ball that exploded -- and the woman who had cooked it said she refuses to serve up anything that doesn't present well. They maybe heard that I had trouble choosing from their abundant wonderful selections so, not only did they make up for it, but they did so about three times over by giving me a few other things to choose from. Wow! I was blown away. Then the other woman who cooked the food explained to me that she always wants people to feel comfortable, that it's important to her, and she took a course in vegan cooking. They are so, so sweet and genuinely care. They went above and beyond and everything was delicious. I'm sure they would have behaved similarly with anyone, but I almost left feeling embraced and like I received some sort of special treatment for being vegan. And that's truly rare, I think, in restaurants that serve meat. Can not recommend this place enough.
Pros: Above and beyond service. , Delicious. , Good portions.
Cons: A bit pricey, but worth it.

Washington's best-kept Vegan Secret! - Edit
Our family LOVES this Puerto Rican inspired vegan food! We get it to go and it even keeps well on the road. This is food with sophisticated flavor and every dish is unique. We usually get one of everything. It's not cheap food but better than most in this price range in the Tacoma-Seattle area. Plus you're supporting a great business! Would give it 5 stars if I could (they serve traditional recipes too)

Delicious Cuban/ Puerto Rican food - Edit
This spot is a diamond in the rough. They have several delicious vegan options. It is pretty pricey, with entrees ranging from $20-$30, but the portions are ENORMOUS and one entree could easily feed a couple. I recommend calling in your order because it does take about 30 minutes for them to make the meal, as everything is cooked to order. The host was so friendly and kind. When my order was ready, she gave me a free dessert to try which was sooo delicious! She said that the vegan menu is pretty new, and was added because of the suggestion of a customer, so they REALLY do care about us. I am happy to return many times and continue to support OSJ.
