Authentic Japanese Lunch Spot

They have different kind of Onigiri of which 4 to 5 are vegetarian (basically they should be vegan, but did not confirm that). I opted for the set lunch which includes the dish of the day. The taste and portions were good and the staff was really helpful.

Important note: I explained that I must not eat fish and meat and the cook asked me if the stew without meat is fine for me. In the end he just removed the meat from the existing one (I realized it as there was a bit of meat left in the sauce). They are super helpful, so make sure that you express yourself well and doublecheck with them to avoid such situations. If you want to play safe, opt for the onigiris without the set lunch.

Tasty set menu made vegan

I told them I’m vegan and they understood what it meant and explained what I could have from the menu. I had a very tasty set menu based around the salt and kelp onigiri, with several side dishes. Friendly service and English was spoken and understood too

Yay good vegetarian food!

Though I am not a strict vegetarian (and this restaurant does serve meat) I was
SO excited and happy to have a great veggie lunch here: salad, tofu, tempura, etc. I found getting good veggie food more difficult in Japan than I anticipated.

A very small place. The husband and wife owners were gracious and hospitable. They sold some fresh produce as well.

Very happy and would definitely make a point of returning
