Vegans stay away - Edit

I’d seen Olive at Loch listed on HappyCow, so was expecting I’d at least get a choice for my takeaway lunch. But they only had one item in the whole place that was vegan - they didn’t even have any vegan slices or cakes (though nearly every cafe has them nowadays).

I would have walked out but I was running late, the place was crowded and I’d been standing in a queue, so I got their one vegan offering - what they called a ‘Turkish Pizza’. It turned out to be some big bland lumps of pumpkin on a big slab of bread - I was tempted to bin it but it turned out to be edible mainly because of the caramelised onion on top.

I googled ‘Turkish pizza’ later, and what I got for lunch bears no resemblance to anything that showed up in my search. I did question it when it was first handed to me, asking if they’d got the order wrong, but was told, “no, this is a Turkish pizza.”

Cons: Only one vegan option , Expensive , Uninteresting food

This is a real shame you had this experience. They used to have 3 or 4 options in the cabinet as well as a vegan toastie. Obviously not ideal but it's been the only cafe this side of Leongatha with any vegan options since The Long Wall closed down.

Hopefully Olive lifts their game into the future!
